Because Obama is more interested in his celebrity status than he is in politics. He cannot be seen to support a loser. When Biden actually is the party's nominee, he will support him as a candidate.
Yeah ok, fair point. Still, my money is on Hillary showing up late in the race to run as vp, then either uses Biden (or whoever) as a puppet or he gets moved aside for her on way or another. Either way, definitely smells like there’s going to be a last minute surprise.

Obama would not be elected the President, therefore dodging the 22nd amendment. Ascension is not elected. The wording is very clear.
