Benzos are unique in that you can become heavily addicted just taking them as prescribed. Things like Adderall, opiates, etc the chances are quite slim unless you abuse the fuck out of them. Benzos are very addictive though, even just once or twice and your body can become dependant.

By no means should you take this as me defending him. This nigger preaches to young men about picking themselves up by their bootstraps and grabbing a hold of their lives but he needed drugs to do it himself.
