The 2000s

Does any oldfags on here have memories from this period? I'm a dumb late 90s zoomer kid, but I can clearly remember the 00s. 2004 - 2010 was dope from what I remember. Ever since 2011 things started to really suck. As far as nationalist politics goes, I didn't start to get involved until 2012. As far as internet culture is concerned, I didn't start using the internet until 2006. I remember Steve Irwin's death (basically zoomer 9/11), Chris Benoit, Kramer's rant, Anna Nicole Smith, the 2008 elections, financial crash, the earthquake in Haiti & we are the world and Michael Jacksons death. I also remember shock sites when that was a thing. Internet culture was mostly lolcats, demotivational posters, MySpace and other basic bullshit. I remember YouTube before it got taken over by normalfags in 2009/10 with Fred, Shane Dawson and all that other stuff. Boy, the 00s sure were fun.

it is nostalgia, user. i am from the same time period as you. i have nostalgia also. everybody does for their origins if they grew up with good things to remember. some people say their childhood was a better time than current kids but our paths through life are all relative.

I was only 11, but I think things changed abruptly in 2007. Suddenly people and particullary musicians stopped wearing all colored clothes, broadband internet became popular, the norm shifted from 4:3 to 16:9, video games jumped gen too.
I wish I was a teenager or young adult in the first half of the 2000s. Things made more sense, it was the peak of politically incorrect humor (south park, borat). Rock music was still popular and several good movies came out every year, at least up until 2005.

Lulz. I was 22 when 2000 hit. I have no idea what half of that shit is.

People are more based now than they were then. The 00s were cucked and gay. Peoples are forced to wake up today. The present is different from the past but trust me, the 90s and 00s are what created weak beta males. Nowadays clown works forces people to be strong.

I remember the 2004 indonesia tsunami, I moved from the US to Singapore in the 3rd grade with my family. The world and Singapore have changed so much since then.

Lost nostalgia thread?

I was born in '85 and graduated HS in 04' the 00's for us was like what the 60's was for boomers essentially. It was a very interesting time. It's when the internet started getting good and ubiquitous, and also cell phone evolution modernized. It was bookended by 9/11 in the beginning and the first black president towards the end, and dominated by war and counter-culture in between.

The term oldfag should only be used for time spent on imageboards. I’m middle aged and nostalgia is a powerful drug, it has been at least for the last 100 years the idealization of a less degenerate time of degeneracy. In the 80’s the 50’s/ early 60’s was nostalgic as being a more innocent time, but things were degenerate long before then.

I remember the 2000s well. NuMetal appeared and replaced decent rock music, minorties got more uppity and making fun of gays became unacceptable. Facebook ruined the internet then too, which had previously been amazing. I still weep for the 90s.

Its not just you. Im from the 70s and after 2010 the world sucks big time. Which is when smartphones became mainstream even grandmas and babies have em. The internet wasnt meant for normies.

It was the least shit period in recent history. The 10's were the most jewish, stagnant and retarded period I ever seen. It could even beat the extreme kosher 90's.

>Nerdy kid gets bullied at school by local punk
>some gangbangers help him out and pressure him into their gang for protection
>gets dragged to a gang war
>cops end up accidentally blowing up some tanks of mutagenic chemicals and all the gang members and nearby people get caught up in the "Big Bang"
>Nerdy kid runs away and wakes up with control over electromagnetism
>becomes wisecracking superhero
>has to fight off thugs and other troubled youths that now have superpowers
>actually touches on serious issues like homelessness, abandonment, racism, etc.
>has god-tier crossovers with other DC animated series running at the time
The 2000s had some fantastic cartoons. You aren't going to see good shows like this without a bunch of ham-fisted woke bullshit.

Everything was business as usual until Myspace and the dawn of social media. After that, amd we became a "connected world", where everyone could get as much attention as they desired with the click of a button, everything went to shit LOTR was the best shit to come out of that period. Vidya had some greatness too. But music especially went down the drain. Nobody can sing anymore. Nobody can play an instrument anymore. Everything is done with machines and electronic voice synthesizers.

This. If you were born in the early to mid 80s, you grew up like a Boomer/genx but came into adulthood as a zooner. You remember pre 9/11 and actual freedom and going outside and being constrained to one room to talk on a telephone, but are technologically literate in the way old great grandma would have cursed Satan for.

>go to the park to smoke cigarettes
>party in the woods to fuck ugly chicks
>FF8 has too good of graphics and they look like real people
>9/11 while in majority white school
>watch dbz after school
>the internet is magical wild west
>golden era of jrpgs
>dart kept his promise and had that drink with lavitz after all
>smash tournament at a buddies house and girls that weren't ugly fat pigs would join in
>college and the technologization of the world
>war
>more war
>militarization of the police force
>your childhood town is a niggerinfested shithole
>more war
>you are here

Fuck off boomer

send your granchildren a poke on facebook maybe they'll explain it to you

Vice versa to me - 2004-2010 was shit, then life finally hit the upswing and it has been parabolic since.

Yeah, thats about right, all that shit was true for me, i was born in 2000 so

FUCK BERNIE SANDERS

I remember both eras

>since 2011
Try 2005 you stupid faggot

Baby bitch.

Peak of human civilization. George Bush keeping the free world safe, America kicking ass in Iraq, pre-financial crisis, thriving middle class, mostly pre-smartphone, very little retarded cultural shit (compared to now, anyway). Of course it was mostly a glittering, mesmerizing illusion; you could see the cracks in the facade if you wanted to find them. But it was still a great era.

07-10 were the shittiest years of my life and I honestly think the only thing that kept me alive was LOTRO

What is LOTRO

If you watch the commercials from that era you will notice there are barely any niggers in them

Lord of the Rings Online

>Nobody can play an instrument anymore. Everything is done with machines and electronic voice synthesizers.
This really isn't true. The producers that actually create hit songs absolutely know how to play instruments, and electronic sounds are still notes and chords that require some skill + knowledge to compose. The addition of electronic sounds widens the spectrum of music, and music production on a computer takes tons of time in learning the tools and understanding sound design.

Yeah, there's shitty pop artists that rely on autotune and studio magic but those types of artists have always been glorified influencers propped up by producers and songwriters.

I, too, yearn for what was.

I was born in 1986 only got into the net in 2007

Music has gotten pretty fucking bad though

>born in 1986
You lucky motherfucker

I miss old blink-182. :(

I was born in 1990 I remember most of that stuff, we were the sheltered kids with overbearing mothers and big dreams. Then in 2008 the dream was over and reality set in for me, I searched for meaning in a meaningless world, confused by all the talk I would achieve great things and now I slave away at a shitty retail job.

should be an ipod instead of discman.

Never forget what they took away from us.

Wrong, that's for the late 2000s

AIM baby. I still remember my first girlfriends screen name

Did you actually just compare a terrorist attack in which thousands of people died horribly to a fucking moron entertainer who thought it world be a good idea to venture out of his element in the name of television? kys

They gonna be at Summerfest in Milwaukee, see you there user. Let's grab a beer.

They are too young and dumb to comprehend anything of that magnitude. I remember that day vividly. Coming home from school in 2nd or 3rd grade and my father saying that this would be the "Pearl harbor of my time". As the years grew, seeing video footage still sent shivers down my spine. Conspiracies are irrelevant, thousands of people were brutally killed that day and many children became parentless. 9/11 has faded out of existence now and most have forgot. Sad but such is life, time moves forward.

It's not nostalgia in this case, the modern world became complete shit after 2008. During 2006-2007 you could feel it as if the good times were ending

By 2008 I could tell Breaking Bad was going to be the only good thing that year (now I hate that show after I learned what it's really about)

By mid-2008 Poker Face by Lady Gaga was the biggest song of the year, that put into perspective how dumbed down people had become from high speed internet and Razr phones and Facebook and now the debut of the iPhone. ZOG had removed their velvet glove to reveal an iron fist and Lady Gaga's song was an example of it.

By 2009-2010 the girls in our society were completely destroyed.

I was in my 20s so it wasn't much different for me to be 24 or 28 however there was a big huge difference in happiness and quality of entertainment and optimism in the western world between 2006 and 2010. If you were Chinese maybe you liked the past 12 years but if you are western you were probably cringing hard. Unless you're a pervert who likes interracial porn and mulatto basketball players and pedos in which case you were probably cheering on the decline. SORRY to recommend ZOG flicks but watch the films CELLULAR from 2004 or CRANK from 2006 or Season 5 of Malcolm in the Middle from 2006 or Season 1 of Breaking Bad from 2008 and you'll be blown away by how innocent everything feels.

Meh, 2000s were okay I guess. Most culture was garbage, but skateboarding was at its peak and I was super into that. Other than that, nothing really special. 2004 is when I began using the internet significantly, and 2007 was the year that my life became completely wrapped up in it. Literally at least 10 hrs a day pretty much every day spent wasting time on stupid forums and imageboards. Tbf, the internet was still pretty good then, but once social media came into the mix, it all went downhill. This is the only site I go on that isn't geared to one of my special interests. Every place is overrun by normalfags now, including this one.

Oldhead! Boomer!

Static Shock is jews trying to normalize black culture to white young goyim fool.

You could make the argument that things are better now.
>No Global Financial Collapse
>No 9/11
>Most countries around the world are significantly safer and wealthier than 10 years ago.
>Being able to interact with people from around the world on places like Yas Forums in a second is now a commodity not a luxury.
>Virtually an endless amount of good content for all media, you just need to dig through a mountain of rubbish to find the good stuff.
>People work less for the same overall income of 10 years ago.

I still feel pretty nostalgic for the late 90s and early 2000s. Maybe it was just easier to not let politics and dumb ideas over take a society when it had to get infiltrated and spread much MUCH slower then since people still read news papers and had no access to internet or let alone being able to talk to people in other continents in real time at a dirt cheap price.
But those cracks you mention would be things like nieched online fetish communities that went mainstream like furries, the obvious housing bubble in hinesight, the endless war.

I just hope the 2020s will be like the best of the 80s, 90s, 2000s, and 2010s. But I feel like this is going to be a decade of strife.

I remember my first wall of death, first girl, first guitar etc
Bad luck for me that rock culture died as i was starting. Now its french rap and tik toks

Lol I'm a little older than you. I came home and was pissed that all of my shows were interrupted. Literally every station we had was showing it non stop. It was annoying as hell, I could care less if a bunch of kikes and banksters got blown to smithereens by towelheads.

What are you doing with all this data you're mining?

Skating is completely dead today. I see more kids on scooters at the skatepark. I picked up skating a few months ago and there's actually quite a few guys who are 25-40 who skate, but the highschool age and below kids are always on scooters.

Happa stepsis...?

I was telling western males to escape to Europe or Argentina and start a family and not fall into the neet/basement dweller lifestyle. Opting out of white-male hating society to watch anime and do gayming while "your" women are taken by chads and blacks is not a solution.

I'm guessing you regret not spending that time traveling? The memes from 2003-2010 was cringy and stupid as fuck.

Attached: 1571711993151.png (1024x768, 1.1M)

I must be the only millenial who's 9/11 experience was just another day. My friends and I just rode bikes after school and just did our regular thing. I read posts on Yas Forums about people getting sent home from school and whatnot. My school didn't show footage or even make an announcement. They just treated it like a normal day.

Where tf you live? I'm in Milwaukee and I gotta say skateboarding is more popular than ever. I fucking suck at it but we finally got good weather outside so I literally went out for hours.

>>has god-tier crossovers with other DC animated series running at the time
the future crossover with Batman Beyond was pure kino. but even the lulz cameos like Shaq and Lil Romeo were wholesome in their own way.
>>actually touches on serious issues like homelessness, abandonment, racism, etc.
this as a cartoon presented the good and darker aspects of black culture in a very much relatable manner. perhaps i was more open-minded then, but I cannot imagine feeling that with the preach morality lessons we get today.
