I would expect that the gold standard would be all but rejected in a post-apocalyptic society. Goods and services, ammunition, food, skills in trades - these things will be valuable. There will be some who still use gold, but as gold cannot be eaten, it'd probably take quite a while to get to the point where currency of any kind is the standard. It would be symbolic at best.
