I really don't know. Sometimes his shit does seem creepy and fucking out there but on the nest page you'll have the most ridiculous shit, for example the spiral hair on uzumaki.
Is it some sort of bonus material? I guess if his intention is to contrast the uncanny with the absurd, then he manages to do so but I don't enjoy it. I prefer the comedic aspect of Shintaro Kago, who is in a way similar to Ito. Kago reaches both depravity and hilarity and they do not appear to be opposed

I think it's just thowing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. The concept of 'spirals' gives you a lot to work with, and bear in mind what some people find creepy, others won't.
That said, I'm certain jack-in-the-box was intended to be humourous.
