I feel like the narrative isn’t interesting enough for me to be invested. I sorta picked it up because the premise interested me, but it is really losing me. Which is a bit odd because we had the MC confess very early in the series, which is a bit unusual.

That's because the premise isn't even being used much now. You could remove the "switch at birth" premise and most of the plot would stay the same.

We need more family chapters. That's literally what the premise revolves around. The love triangle nonsense was most likely shoehorned in at the "suggestion" of editors for serialization.

I'm pretty sure Hiro only exists dude to editors anyway, there was no sign of her in the oneshot unlike even Sachi.

Except it isn't, we had two chapters for Erika to interact with her biological family and Nagi's biological family ditched him: he never even had a line of dialog with the mother and the father seems to have his own agenda.
Now the series desperately tries to justify the inclusion of Hiro to the story.

Considering that early threads were full of Toubunfags who kept spamming Sachi, I doubt it.

him having a girl he likes moves us away from the main romance
her being promised to someone else, makes her a dead end
her hogging Erika is again diverting from Nagi and Erika's plot

Why is Hiro getting so much focus if she wasn't supposed to exist in the story? Was her absence in the oneshot a ruse?
