someone put up the latest release. Turns out the earlier release was a in production version of tamayomi. This is the non QUALITY version alongside the proper version.

Yeah the original release a couple days ago was the TV release on a couple of stations in japan. The recent CG episodes were the "non-QUALITY" versions released on the japanese satellite channel A-TX. I don't know the specifics, but apparently the studio gave funimation streaming and a bunch of stations the shit early version and then when it was finished the cleaned up version to ATX.

yeah. But keep in mind A-TX premieres tamayomi later than the other channels. So the studio had time to fix it up for them.
This is more than a fix-up, though. Closer to a shot-for-shot remake
You can see some of the angles and direction choices change between scenes too. Pretty interesting to see what they do and don't change. Some scenes even add scrolling when in the shit version its a static wide shot.
I think it's a version they had before the CG models were ready. A lot of the scenes are crude outlines and the final version has completely replace with a cg model.

Why bother would a fully fleshed-out QUALITY version though? It seems like just outlines would have sufficed for timing and VA purposes, no need to go the effort of coloring and such.

Unless anyone involved comments on it we probably won't know. The same hashtag the official twitter uses has examples from that version, meaning they could see it and decide to address it even if Funi doesn't.
At least we know the last thing A-CAT was the main studio on was about a year ago, so this version could've even been done in 2019 as a very rough outline.
They just wasted 1 episode worth of production time since both look like shit. Is this postponed next week?

Well the left one is clearly unfinished and/or fucked up but the use of CGI on the right is soulless.
Theyre are some annoying nice sketches on the unfinished one. Its kind of annoying. You know some of it would look good if they could properly fund and support the art instead of dumping everything to CG
