If you're talking about the guy on the original Kannazuki no Miko I think it was hilarious (even when the guy was a pretty decent person), especially given how hard he fought for Himeko.

Well in its time KnM sold around 12k with it's first DVD volum and kept around 8k average per volumes sales so it was a good selling series.
It other spin-off called Shattered Angels failed completely but it was Kaishaku own fault for making a love triangle pairing centered around a guy that time which missed its fanabse wishes.

Now this brings back memories. I actually watched Kyoshiro to Towa before Kannazuki, and when I got to it I couldn't help but feel Kyoshiro was just a weak copy of KnM. Unironically, one of the specials looked more interesting than what the anime was.
