So why is the ending of COE GEASS considered amazing?

Code Geass was a generic mecha anime but the protagonist and antagonist switched roles.
Essentially the bad guy not only won but turned the hero to his side.
It was kino.

Because it perfectly wraps up the story and is an actual emotional moment

It was an awesome ending sure.
Until you realize that humanity does not deserves to be saved and that doing something for a so many huge collectivité is pointless, so the action of Lelouch seems stupid from a realistic point of view.

Also he was killed by that obnoxious race-traitor.

It was the only good part of an otherwise garbage series

The slow build up to it, the revelation, the way the music plays to the key moments perfectly.

There were two major goals to Zero Requiem, and you seem to have missed both.

There is so many things about R2's ending that makes it perfect that writing an entire paper about it wouldn't be enough.

The ending is perfect because Lelouch saved everyone yet he has to die with everyone thinking he was the villain

The buildup to it made it seem like Lelouch truly had become a villain and lost sight of his original motives, and then with one action it's revealed that not only was he still aiming for them but he had been carrying out a plan all along and making himself the martyr for all the worlds hate to focus on

I was a kid back then so it was easier to impress me. Still, even thinking about it with more experience, it was still a good ending.

The best ending to any anime ever.
