There is one power up during that fight and I don't know how you can somehow claim having a backstory is bad. Also do you want Gayuu still one shorting Upper Moons or something. He saved Tanjiro plenty of times during that fight.

I agree with the Tanjiro point but later down the line it did not annoy me as much since both Himejima and Obonai unlocked it as well in the thick of battle.
I find it fitting that he killed himself once his memories came back, he had nothing left. Even when Muzan turned him he just wanted to die.

this ending is 6.5-7/10 for me. just the fact that it's ending here is enough. I've seen way way worse so my standard is pretty low I guess.

Because it's bland and uninspired even for the standards of this series, it's a rehash of a generic sobstory you've heard a thousand times before and Wani had the audacity to make it really long.

No, I just don't even remember what he even did besides taking some hits for Tanjirou and stalling. Surely there is something interesting you can use a pillar for.
