Its not really a gag. Just like Gankutsuo was a retelling on Monte Christo, Samurai 7 is a cyberpunk seven samurai. I thought it was pretty neat. I like the way it turns into its own story later on. Also the cast was quite likable and its overall a solid watch.

I've stopped following any anime released after 2016 except for long running shows getting new seasons or remakes. Seems like everything looks samey , covered in KyoAni Filter™ unispired trash that only serves as either a fucking Ad for the LN,a Gacha game adaptation or a shitty 4-koma adaptation.
