Im in the Death March story arc, and I gotta say, it got better than I expected the show to be, especially after the Taiyo Sphinx and the memegame that was the NASA Aliens
also, general thread for anyone into Sports anime, I guess. Senshado is not a sport, make your own thread guppies
It's good but the series ended years ago user and there's not much left to discuss. If we pretend that the final arc never existed then it's one of the greatest sports series.
Cameron Clark
should have been an Oujo versus Devilbats end
Gavin Martin
I really liked it, though the final arc was eh. The anime could've used another season or something to finish it.
Cameron Lee
I just discovered it, I guess im very late to the party.
but such is the life of a new watcher I guess.
Julian Stewart
It's okay, I hope that you'll enjoy it
Xavier Murphy
Mostly this. It’s got some great moments and I remember liking it more than the big three back in the day. A lot of the games come down to last second impossible victory plot. But, it’s a fun plot device so it’s no big deal. In addition, Murata always did a good job here, it’s nice to see him doing well with OPM. Although, it looks like my boy Hiruma is a character in OPM.

shonen shit garbage

black genes just too stronk for the japs, jaguar 4.1 dash is all genes

I liked it so much I had Monta as my MSN messenger icon when I used it in middle school. I'm 25 now. Id love to see a reboot of the anime with all of it animated but seems only sports anime with fujobait can stay relevant or last long.
Peaked during the White Knights match, Teikoku Alexanders and Hakushu Dinosaurs arcs are ok, but doesn't have the buildup of the former. Andbut others said the final arc was a whimper save for Gaou's and Agon's personal plotlines
Jose Myers
personally my favorite match is Shinryuji, mostly because I like underestimated underdog blowing everyone's expectation and Shinryuji had both Juumonji and Yukimitsu having a touchdown
Gavin Mitchell
Are the two Ha-Ha brothers gonna get more character development? So far it feels like only Jumonji is an actual character
Justin Davis
There was a bit with Togano
Brandon Torres
I love the Hakushuu match. Both Gaoh and Marco are great antagonists. No
Adrian Butler
One thing I like about the series is how it nails down the innate LB-RB rivalry of football
Evan Taylor
>Peaked during the White Knights match
Nah. Devil's Mistake and the team pulling itself back together after Hiruma gets destroyed were both better than anything that happened in the White Knights match.
Lucas Smith
I think one genuinely great moment from the Teikoku match is seeing Hiruma's pure bliss after Sena beats Yamato for the 1st time.
Josiah Miller
60 Yards Magnum was kino
Anthony Long
Riku was probably the most underwhelming character of the manga.
Brandon Stewart
this series meant to be read.
Mason Gray
>anime doesn't cover the Dinosaurs game or Christmas bowl. You're getting ripped off in the long run OP
Connor Lee
Don't worry, it gets a lot worse
Ayden Myers
Okay. So I never recommend people to stop reading manga at a certain point. I tell people to play DMC2, if that means anything to you.
I don't know how far the anime goes, but once you finish chapter 304 of the manga, don't read chapter 305. Skip right to the last chapter, the epilogue. In fact, I'd recommend you don't even read chapter 304, just stop at 303, but some people might disagree.
I have never seen a manga go downhill as hard as Eyeshield 21.
Blake Allen
My biggest criticism other than the obvious (final arc and the huge amount of focus monta started getting when the editors realized how popular he was with kids) is the focus on the "real eyeshield 21". I thought that took a lot away from the series. To me, the fact that Eyeshield 21 was an obvious bluff was part of the point. The entire team was based on bluffing as hard as they could and backing it up with just enough skill that the bluff became real in the minds of others. Just because you aren't ACTUALLY some guy from Notre Dame, that doesn't mean you can't pretend to be one and still make it all the way. Anything to win.
It's similar to the 60-yard-magnum. Really, what matters isn't that you can or can't punt 60 yards. What matters is that you can bluff people into thinking you can, even yourself. For one precious moment, when you kick the ball, everyone thinks "holy shit, he's actually gonna make it".
Nolan Davis
>I have never seen a manga go downhill as hard as Eyeshield 21 I used to say this, but then the final arc of Shokugeki no Soma happened and made Eyeshield 21's last arc look like an inoffensive victory lap.
I didn't like that there was an original Eyeshield 21. Can't remember if that was ever foreshadowed but the development felt tacked on.
Zachary Perry
Definitely read the manga for one thing. And the last arc isn't necessarily bad, it's just a curve that feels unnecessary, though is quite fun. It's like the spinoff story to commemorate a series' 10th anniversary or something, only it was there during the regular serialization And Marco did nothing wrong
James Miller
I guess, but with Shokugeki the writing was on the wall for a long time. The entire Central arc was a steady downwards slope. Eyeshield got a bit stale for the last few games, but it was still chugging on towards that ending it had been dreaming of. And then they threw away the entire fucking ending, literally zero catharsis for the last 300 chapters of work, just so they could try to cash in a bit more. It goes from good to shit in a single fucking chapter. At least Shokugeki made you think there might be some way to get an entertaining story out of "dark chefs".
Jaxson Thomas
>And Marco did nothing wrong
He lost and disappointed his girlfriend.
I hate that Kid got shafted. His Gaou counter was so ballsy I just wanted it to work.
Joshua Sanders
I wasn't offended enough by ES21's last arc to hate it. It was inferior to everything that came before it, but at worst it felt like an optional spinoff you could skip at no cost and head straight to the epilogue, and I liked the last chapter well enough. Shokugeki's last arc was the author taking everything that made the series enjoyable and throwing it it the garbage, which he then topped off with a shitty ending and epilogue where the MC never got to achieve any of the goals he set for himself at the beginning of the story. Every time you thought the arc couldn't possibly get any worse the author kept one upping himself.
