Isayama's main flaw is that he has failed to properly set up the alliance. Everything was too rushed, he should have taken his time. I can buy AMJCLH not wanting their friend to destroy the world but I can't buy Magath suddenly apologizing or Annie joining in after eating pie.

The alliance makes sense character-wise, but it was rushed. We need more interactions and frictions to properly sell it.

They had four chapters (an entire volume) for that. It's just that it's so fucking bloated with characters desperately trying to cram their last minute character development that they haven't had in years that it's all so underwhelming.

I mean, we only had two chapters of the alliance properly interacting, and the last one was filled with plotholes at that. Isayama should have planned things more carefully, for example Connie's mom subplot should have been closed two arcs ago.
