I prefer FF5, because it is basically a harem anime except without romance. The story end up with one guy travelling with three girls. The assumption by fan artists is that he bangs all of them offscreen.

It's got narrative and characters. I just don't like how characters keep coming and going. If you treat it like a story and less like a game then it is fine, but I prefer a more consistent control over party members.

While I won't say that every Final Fantasy is anime-esque, the franchise has typically had a fairly close relationship with anime. It fell away from it more after the merger, and not coincidentally, that's also when it lost its relevance.

Nah, they occasionally made anime OVAs even then. VII had Last Order and XV had Brotherhood, which is low-key one of the very few good videogame anime shows ever made.
