Sub or Dub?
Sub or Dub?
Dub. Fight me.
Dub. Also with Big O.
why
raw
I like both to be honest.
Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the rare cases where the dub is bearable.
Dub Kuwabara is too much of a doofus though
There are probably only 5 dubs worth listening to, and one of them is Ghost Stories.
Why not both?
Dub with subs.
Both. As always.
>shounen
neither
what makes the ghost stories dub good?
I just really like the voices a lot better, although in the case of the Big O, what I've heard isn't bad. It feels like it fits Big O to be in English though.

kek wtf
so it's so bad it's good?
The original source material wasn't good to begin with, so they just did whatever the fuck they wanted.
Old latinoamerican dub with eng sub
Never ever dubs. Only newfags will disagree.
Depends, which of these do you like more?

There's your answer.
YYH is known for having of the best dubs in existence. I rarely watch dubs but the YYH dub is better than the original JPN in every way. Usually anime dubs suck because the VAs just downright suck but YYH made some great fucking choices.
dub is more fun - original sub is good too but it kind of has a more serious tone to it which is good in its own way but kind of dull because you're watching a 30 year old shounen with lots of typical old shounen dialogue. Dub just plays up the cartoonyness of the whole show but it works incredibly well and the series doesn't really lose anything by doing so
I highly recommend this vid for anyone that likes YYH dub - it's the 4 MC VAs just shooting the shit while watching the final episode together, done shortly after they wrapped up dubbing the show

the original series was kind of shite and tanked in japan. Jap gave the rights to some english dub studio and basically said "do whatever you want it and try to make it successful". The result is pretty humorous and it was basically the first "abridged" series before abridged shit was even a thing, so it was pretty innovative when it came out (though a lot of the jokes are outdated pop-culture references)
fun fact, Noriyuki Abe was the anime director for Ghost Stories and he was also the director for YYH
What do fags like this watch?
Is this a blooper reel or something? How did they get away with this?
This is all I have to say about this series.
only shows with characters that look like this
Top or bottom, user?
Basically what said.
Ghost Stories is a 20 episode long anime that was created in 2000, and that adapts Tōru Tsunemitsu's books of the same name. The premise is simple: a group of preteens (and their evil cat sidekick) investigate and fight ghosts in their town, with the help of a book left by the protagonist's dead mother.
After the anime turned out to be a complete flop on Japanese TV, Animax approached ADV Films to create the Ghost Stories English dub. When the contract was made, Animax did not expect the series to fare much better with the American market. The company was under huge financial pressure, so the dubbing team was given a unique amount of creative freedom. The first English dub of Ghost Stories has since become a cult classic, as an obscure, sub-par anime series for kids became a hilarious, self-aware, and highly offensive fan favorite.
"1. Do not change the names of any character, including the ghosts.
2. Do not change the way any ghost is killed as it is based on Asian ghost legends.
3. Do not change the meaning of the episode."
Additionally, the Japanese company included a desperate plea: "4. Do whatever else you want to make the show successful." Animax had no idea what they'd signed themselves up for.
Working under the "do whatever you want" remit, the ADV team threw out the original, more faithfully adapted script, and imbued the Ghost Stories characters with comedic personalities.
Satsuki — the 10-year-old protagonist — drops F-bombs, and frets over the size of her bra cups. Her best friend Momoko is an Evangelical Christian fanatic, her love interest Hajime is super arrogant and has a lewd sense of humor, and her little brother Keichiiro has a learning disability. When he becomes hysterical, no one but his sister can understand what he's saying.
This all leads to some very (semi-deliberate) offensive gags relating to each character's adaptational changes.
I absolutely love the YYH dub. The show wouldn't be as strong without it.
