Ryuki is probably the closest thing you'll get to Madoka overall feel and atmosphere, highly recommended

Phantom of Inferno is too much underrated, way more underrated than you think.
It has huge scale story that's progress over long period of time with a lot of development for the characters, the thing is I started it on whim and thought I'll get gangs, mafia and guns with a lot of characters dying in horrible way like Psycho-pass but actually got a pure human drama in its highest form from start to finish. It's also pure love story.
Highly recommended for Urobutchifags. By the way I played the game that was 100% written by him and watched the 2009 anime and ended up loving the anime way more. The director just did a fantastic job with it.
