I think it could be a hit if they threw enough money at it and actually got a director who knew what the fuck they were doing. But it would be extremely hard to adapt without some good choices - for example I'd actually have kanji appear on screen whenever red text were invoked, etc.
Imagine secondaries and their stupid fucking faces once it goes from a fairly straight-forward, gory, horror murder mystery of episode 1 to the full blown mental retardation of meta witches and ahaha.wav from episode 2 onwards.
