What are you currently watching? Find any gems recently? I'm going to start Dirty Pair soon followed by a rewatch of City Hunter.
Pre-2000s anime
I like the VA who voices Dr. Mashirito is the second movie.
I finished Mugen no Ryvius recently. Felt like the show was kind of held back by Kouji, who proves himself in the end by getting really fucking lucky.
>The series is also noted for its music, a blend of western R&B/hip-hop music with J-pop vocals
>J-pop vocals
I'll pass
J-pop vocals encompasses such a wide variety of styles it's meaningless
whatre you trying to do, OP?
imply that 2000 was a long time ago?
>it used to be 80s anime
>then it became 90s anime thread
>now it is pre 2000s
it gets harder to come here and not to cry everytime bro
>tfw youll never watch haruhi or lucky star with Yas Forums for the first time ever again
>imply that 2000 was a long time ago?
Is 20 years ago not a long time? I was a young child in 2000 and now i'm a grown man with responsibilities. That is a large of gap of time not only in life but changes in the industry. I don't even understand what you're point is.
The bumpers always had the hiphop play and it was the most ill-fitting thing. However, as an anime rendition of Lord of the Flies, it's a solid watch.
watching Urumeshi
my backlog somehow keeps getting bigger the more old stuff I watch too
no ragrats
What we really need is a 2000 to 2010 thread. Loads of shows that newfags here have never even heard
Kouji and Aoi are the people who basically fall in line and listen to what they are told to do. Eventually in the extreme circumstance he does develop as a character. Most of the other characters are static and just show their true colors over time.
If you ever rewatch it pay close attention, all the characters who "change" as the series progress all have the basis for what their character reveals itself as later early on.
These are some of the only threads that are actually worth reading.
It's not even because older anime is better it's that people who actually watch classic shit generally know what they are talking about
Dirty pair is a fun ride. I didn't get my hands on that back in the day and wasn't exactly thrilled with the OVAs and flash which I had seen ages ago.
TV series was actually a really fun ride, hope you enjoy it.
I started Patlabor, having picked up the blurays when they were in a rightstuf flash sale. I thought it'd be neat to screencap them, but I learned only too late that bluray has a billion hoops I'll have to jump through to get screencap as a function to work.
Anyone here ever watch H2? Was thinking about giving that a watch next, how is it?
>What we really need is a 2000 to 2010 thread
Dumb idea. It will just be loaded FMA and Gurren Lagaan shit. For every quality Monster or Casshern post, there will be 100 FLCL posts. At least with pre-2000, you know zoomers wont even bother posting.
Yeah I understand the intention with Kouji's passivity, I just don't think the way he ultimately chooses to change has a substantial positive impact given that the troops were right outside the door and had already decided to not kill anybody. At worst they would have subdued Ikumi and friends before they could attack. I enjoyed the show but just felt that part was an underwhelming means of having Kouji prove his worth.
I shit you not, I just just about to watch this. Did you like it?
People who actually watch older shit know what they're talking about, but there are tons of frauds that just pretend to be fans of older anime, like kenny on youtube
To be fair that's the way the source material ends so I suppose that's kind of a holdover from that. I knew it was going to end that that scenario so I didn't feel it cheapened how Kouji dealt with it, but I see where you are coming from.
>now i'm a grown man with responsibilities
kek i'm 24 and i've just began college
>living like a 17 yo
the fountain of youth I swear
>but there are tons of frauds that just pretend to be fans of older anime, like kenny on youtube
oldfags don't watch animetubers. I don't even know who or what that is.
The late 90s were the peak soul.
>le epic ignorance
Alright here's you (you)
>soul
Yep, threads dead
It's now infested with "dont make em like that" faggots
>Urusei Yatsura
Fucking love this show so much, this is the first "real" anime I have ever watched. Yeah.. yeah i only ever heard of this anime because of that whang video.
Boogiepop is post-2000 you amateur.
>It's now infested with "dont make em like that" faggots
They literally "don't make em like that" by the actual definition. The closest they have come is the recent City Hunter movie.
Not that user, but I've watched it several years ago. It doesn't have the most epic storyline ever, but it's OK if you're going into it as a small helping of sword and sorcery.
I thought it was an amusing little fantasy yarn if you want something quick to get you in the mood for pen and paper.
