Pre-2000s thread

Now that corona has wiped out half of the anime season, what are you backlogging?

Is Naruto pre-2000 ? The manga came out in 1999.

Bubblegum Crisis.

Might rewatch GTO

Funny how they are dealing with a boomer crisis, just like we are.

Still has the best OP in all anime.

Weird timing. I find this thread and your post shortly after starting episode 2 of Crash.

>slayers
why do people always post the worst shit?

Because I want to deflower Lina.

finished logh and now I'm sad and ponderous

Been slowly working through Mama wa Shougaku 4 Nensei. Go check it out; it's a 1992 show that's finally getting subbed and it's cute as fuck. Great animation too.

Is Slayers worth giving another shot any time soon? I watched a little of the original series when I was a kid and I'd like to try getting back into it, but the amount of series there are and the length of them all just seems like a bit of a commitment.

Damn I wish I could experience Slayers for the first time again. The next season TRY is really good too even though it's anime original.

I've actually finished Slayers, Next an Try, and all of the movies and OAVs last year, but haven't started on Revolution and Evolution-R yet.

it sucks haha

Go for it

Almost finished with Hime-chan no Ribon. It's really great. It's slice of life mahou shoujo rather than monster of the week which I think is a better format for it. Himeko at times reminds me of Sakura, and this manga came out several years before CCS.

I went for Robot Carnival. Pretty great anthology. Gonna watch the Virtua Fighter anime soon. Love 90's fighters and I love the dumb adaptations.

>Dai-Guard is pre 2000
Huh. It always looked stereotypically mid 2000s to me.

Just looked it up and it started airing near the end of 1999 and into 2000 so it probably shouldn't really count. There's really not much difference between it and a lot of early to mid 00s series. I enjoyed it but it does have a kind of ugly early 00s digital style to it.

Dai-Guard makes me happy. It's so wholesome.

Two cours into Ashita no Joe and I'm more and more baffled as to why this is well liked. Never mind how limited the animation is, the writing is just really poor. Especially the attempts at comic relief, which are absolutely dreadful.

Is this worth watching?
