How is she so cute?
Kimetsu no Yaiba
>another KNY thread...
I dunno.
No downtime thread is ever gonna come close to that swap au discussion we just had.
Just let it rest, we dont need a thread up all the time
There's still stuff we could discuss with the role swap. Like Snek, Love, and Himejima or further detail into Genya and Sanemi.
Whats wrong with having a thread up now?
The Butters and Rengoku as well
I'd love for Obanai to be half-snake like the demon in his backstory.
The discussion was mainly on the corps side yeah, the demon faction still need developing
>Butters
Random mook demons. Maybe a triple like demon that Gyuutarou hunts in his first missions
>Rengoku
He accepted demonization, contrasting his canon counterpart.
I said Butters but I meant more Shinobu, Kanae and Kanao.
Here's a question;
Is Muzan sick in this AU?
It would be cool if he could fight like the Pillars. Especially since in this AU the demons outnumber the slayers.
We briefly brought up sanemi. He keeps his marechi blood in the way of a honeypot trap that lulls humans
For genya, maybe hes a demon capable of perfectly mimicing any human, down to being able to resist sunlight for short periods of time? A demon focused on shapeshifting, which is something Wani never explored in canon
Muzan being ill and sick was actually discussed a bit. Being ill honestly shapes his character a lot, Im not sure if it would fit having him fight
Some other things that could worl
>The corps are just something he uses in a way to find a cure as he believes that dickhead kaguya cursed his bloodline bc they are related, just like in canon
>Muzan is convinced killing kaguya will solve it and thats his main motivation
>Tamayo is a demon infiltrate masquerading as a close ally of Muzan/straight up his wife
>Shes actually one of Kaguya's highest ranked demons and shes there to spy, keep an eye on pillars (particularly Michikatsu, which is the reason Yoriichi is very up to date with his status) and sabotable any of Muzans attemps to cure his illness
Yeah he's sick, we talked a bit about it in the previous thread and how Tamayo would be his wife or very close partner pretending to find a cure or a delay for his illness but fucking things up purposefully since she's a double agent for Kagaya and a Upper Moon masqerauding as a human doctor.
*Kagaya user.
OTP
shinobu and kanae could have largely the same story as in canon, the difference simply being that they were attacked by humans, burglars or something, and 'saved' by demon himejima. instead of getting stronger to protect other people it would be about getting stronger (through demonhood) to protect their own happiness, and maybe other people too, they might mainly target abusers, criminals, people they see as evil (though id imagine their standards would be broad and somewhat twisted). shinobu in particular has all that anger that would fit well. for kanao, maybe they pick her up after butchering her family, seeing a kindred spirit, and make her a demon as well, bringing her into their family the same as canon, but with a sinister twisted undertone.
Link to the thread?
>the demon hunters are subverted and controlled opposition that end up getting out of hand
that would be a really neat twist and dynamic for a story
swap au starts here
He discussed the demon workshippers arc (with the kamado siblings being the main antagonists, one still being a human even), that would involve the main group infiltrating into the cult (somewhat similar to RLD and overall replacing it from a storyline perspective) shapeshifter genya being present on that arc could play up the horror as it makes the entire infiltration thing fall apart
Fair enough. I was just thinking of how we could beef up the Slayer's numbers in this Au, because while all the Pillars become Upper Moon-level demons, the Demons only have 6 Pillars. 8 Counting Rui and Enmu.
It makes this AU's slayers look like underdogs way more than the actual canon.
Thanks
We threw in Kaigaku too and Akaza's sensei as a retired slayer.
Not all pillars have to be UM, infact, I dont think Kagaya would ahve Upper or Lower moons at all (the whole thing is set up to encourage infighting, competition and recentment, kagaya wouldnt want that)
They'd just be "Moons".
Also the Slayers get a bit of a buff because swapped characters like Michikatsu, Douma and Hakuji are WAY stronger than their counterparts in Himejina, Shinobu, Rengoku and Giyuu
Tamayo being his wife that eventually fucks him over is a good parallel to what actually happens in canon
Hantengu was the best concept out of the previous thread, about the teen who is a slit personality psycho with transes because all of his siblings got massacred and thats his way of keeping them "alive"
i dunno about blood arts, but demon himejima would really be the most like a traditional oni in aura. just this massive mountain of a man, smashing things and people with a gigantic iron weapon. that's the kinda demon that would end up as a folk tale and legend
Shit I forgot Kaigaku.
Still, Gyuu would need some serious MC plot armor to pull the Slayers through.
And I didn't mean to say that Kagaya's demons are actually separated into Upper and Lower Moons, moreso that the strength of Demon Pillars are roughly equivalent of Upper Moons.
But the Slayers also just generally being stronger does help. If a Slayer could actually handle a Moon on their own, that'd balance things out.
The Slayers being in severe disadvantage is I think offset by the fact that Kagaya isnt as dangerous or proactive
Will this thread get purge?
I think human Michikatsu could go up agaisnt something like Akaza, even bordering on Douma, in canon
Was it said that Kagaya still had his supernatural charisma as a demon?
I imagine running into him would make it almost impossible not to submit and want to become a demon yourself.
The demon side being way more passive is the main thing here.
They farm humans instead of hunting them and generally dont even try to actively attack the corps much either, outside of the most violent ones like Sanemi or Shinobu going out on their own. Even tamayo as a spy is there to keep Muzan ill and on a leash as possible, not to sabotage them too agressibly
A big change with an AU would be the goal of the demons. In the current one it's all selfishness and power because Muzan created them solely for his own selfish reasons of aun immunity.
But there's potential to really warp the central themes of the narrative in the AU. Taking their own views of justice too far and Shinobu would really obsess over finding people to "save" and turn demonic so they'd never have to experience the pain if losing their family and watching someone you love die
>"No no no don't cry it's okay! See I'll turn your mommy and daddy into demons too!! They'll never leave you, because now they can't. You'll never have to feel what I did...."
Yeah but Kagaya is shit weak. As in, not even Lower Moon tier. The whole muscle is Yoriichi
And Kagaya talking people into being demons is indeed his whole thing. Some of his moons could in fact straight up be fallen Pillars. Rengoku and Shinobu would be perfect fit for those roles
Thats creepy as hell, but it does feel like a fitting counterpart to how Shinobu treats demons in canon
The kochos getting creepy grooming undertones were they remove the agency of others sounds perfect
It was a very clever way to incorporate 5 "separate" characters into the narrative.
Gyuutaro being the protagonist would also change up all the dynamics. Him and Tanjiro may have similar circumstances but their personalities couldn't be any more different.
I feel like that's the best way to go about it, twist their central character motivations on their head. Like take Doma, he can't feel emotion so as a Hashira he'd actually be more inclined to find and use the see through world. He'd actually make the perfect demon slayer by having his emotions always in check like Tanjiro's father.
Smugzan
And it could come from a genuinely good place. Finding the poor children in slavery, sold into prostitution, from abused homes, impoverished, etc. but it still becomes this creepy hoarding grooming thing
So essentially it's sort of like Vampire: The Masquerade vibes from this AU's demons.
They don't need to hide or be subtle, but they chose to be, instead wanting to more subtly rule humanity from the shadows.
Also with a hint of wanting to turn more of humanity into demons, making them definitively the dominant species. Only a small population of humans are left in order to basically keep as livestock.
Douma would in part see demon slaying as a game, and he is trying to find something to evoke genuine emotion in himself
The thing about being a creepy sociopath has to be intact, but its also important that hes really completely harmless (to other humans), just extremely off putting
he'd definitely be the standout. a human michikatsu would probably end up being the de facto leader of most of the corps' combat operations and training structure, since i can't imagine muzan would have the temperament or patience to get involved hands-on with the boring little details of what his subordinates are doing.
maybe rather than being a samurai general in the sengoku, he served as an officer in the russo-japanese war
>Shinobu-Kanae
They can work as one like Gyuu-Daki, but one day Douma manages to kill Kanae when they split. Since then Shinobu swears to take revenge on human.
>Kanao
Without her sisters’ care, she’d be an emotionless demon and obey any order. She also can use her eyes ability pretty often since her eyes can regenerate, but she’ll cry blood because of overusing it, it’d look kinda similar to Himejima
