Man...what went so wrong with these two manga? I thought just about any battle manga that debuts in WSJ now would get instantly popular because of American influence and promotion alone, but I guess I was wrong.
Man...what went so wrong with these two manga...
Zip man was absolute trash from the get go. Samurai 8 was the same after a pair of chapters
Zipman MC was super weak and the setting was boring
Samurai 8 was just stupid from the get go.
There's been numerous battle manga that have failed every year so I really don't see why you'd be surprised.
Pic related, I've highlighted most of the axed battle manga in the past decade. Probably some mistakes in 2014 because I'm not familiar with axed series before 2015.
If the Japanese public doesn't like a shitty series, why should the Americans have to?
>What if Hinata was the main female character from the start, except she doesn't have a pre-existing crush and can only "offer support" instead of fighting.
>>What if Hinata was the main female character from the start, except she doesn't have a pre-existing crush and can only "offer support" instead of fighting.
Kek Kishimoto's inability to do something decent with a woman he's writing will never not be funny to me.
>GoTW
was it really axed already?
I'm kind of just memeing but it's definitely looking like axebait. The premise is initially interesting but the mangaka clearly needs to get more experience by doing one-shots.
didnt the MC do the hand bite thing from SnK in the first chapter? im sure its not going to last
Samurai 8: Good themes and concepts, began with horrible exposition and bad art, mediocre series overall. Girls unironically the best characters, somehow.
Zipman: Amazing art, good concept but unappealing characters with horrid dialogue and a rushed axebait pacing.
He did and proceeded to never do it again. Calling it a SnK ripoff is completely valid although it did still have potential.
Samurai 8 made the error of dumping exposition and kishimoto seemed too eager to show everybody his idea for a grand space opera and the stakes already started high as fuck.
Also, he literally threw a love interest in the mc face and made sure to announce she was the one he was going to end up with
Zipman was an overall work of an amateur, it had very little interesting going on with it and the execution was not interesting either, so, boring I guess?
Kishimoto needs to chill the fuck out and Zipman guy needs more experience because hes still too raw
Zipman was a dumpster fire and Samurai 8 was extremely subpar for the amount of push it got due to Kishi's name being on it
How to apply to be a mangaka as a gaijin? Here is my art
What was Illegal rare?
Zipman failed from the start, it was canned immediately that much is obvious
both are incredibly mediocre
>Demons plan
Now that was some hot garbage kek
They all start mediocre though. BNHA is the most mediocre trash I have ever seen in manga but it was still artificially pushed because they needed a series to replace the big 3
Axebait from the Nurarihyon author about an organization trying to save cryptids from being hunted to extinction. Kind of like Undead Unluck but a little edgier and without the cool power system.
I hope Zipmanās mangaka gets lucky next time
yes it's argueably mediocre. but what made BNHA took off is the character design and premise, those two aspects alone can make a good introduction if done well and that's what BNHA did
>The character design and premise
>Literally just ripping off marvel superheroes
>Highschool drama
Nigga it took off cause they shilled it
Since when burger has any influence on japanese publication magazine?
The way Shibata draws giant fucking teeth is Horikoshi-esque.
just take one of the conest
be warn, if you are actually gaijin, you will get shit alots
>bleached
no
He was Hori's assistant. Hori really lost a huge catch with him, his art style is similar.
I don't care how much you dislike BNHA if you cannot see the difference between it's first volumes and S8 and Zipman you are retarded.
s8 was shilled to death and didnt take off. shilling doesnt make something popular if its generic enough but with "complexity" normalfags will latch onto it. just like kny and BC the worlds of all 3 of these manga are really generic with nothing unique but the designs and worlds were good enough for normalfags .
They are polar opposites of failure.
Sam8 tried something outlandishly new and original but failed to deliver and convince people, while Zipman played it too safe and didn't bring anything really interesting or exciting on the table. "Too much" vs "Too little".
