We have actually seen him get his ass beat on multiple occasions with no follow up in that arc, we've seen him humbled and learn from defeat.
Also we see far off antagonist that won';t be defeated anytime soon early on in the series, almost no other shonen does that.

Does anyone get put off by shounen protagonists """""losing"""""" with no consequences?????? Like they lose and are maybe injured or bed ridden for a week or so and then they're fine. It feels like I don't really need to worry about the fights because they always either win or half win.

Granted, he does train for ten years before voyaging. Shanks gave him spiritual lessons and he grew up with Ace and Sabo. You would expect him to be as successful as he is, but it's done in a way that doesn't take anything from Luffy as a person. Roger didn't sail til he was 25; Luffy's 19 now. One Piece is good at showing strength is less about achievement and more about where you are internally.

It's not wrong to be desu. Having incredibly high stakes just leads to every fight being predetermined, which ironically makes them less tense than ones with lower stakes.
If Ace's execution had been about le fate of the world like in other shonen, losing never would've been a possibility.
Luffy reviving those Samurais' spirits is one of my favorite moments already. Can't wait to see what he does in this raid.

haki didn't prevent Luffy from eating shit against multiple opponents, he struggled against almost every major enemy he faced post timeskip including him being one shot KO'd against Kaido. it's a skill that he had to learn and train and it's by no means overpowered. half the fucking crew doesn't even know haki
gears literally fucking mess with your lifespan as well as other things luffy used to defeat enemies or as a consequence of a fight, it's not overpowered and he had to invent it and perfect it
leadership isn't a fighting skill that can be measured by overpoweredness you mong. and luffy actually sucks at leadership and command, what he has in great amounts is charisma and personal magnetism.
