I actually skipped this episode and read a summary. I genuinely couldn’t watch.

Fair enough that this guy has died in brutal ways multiple times, enough to scar a man... but oh man he makes so many bad decisions in this episode then he has a mental breakdown to top it off and loses his waifu

I don't know why people don't like this episode. It was a very good episode.

It makes people see themselves in him

No it makes me see an obnoxious autist

Subaru's autism is a rollercoaster in this show.
He has his good moments and bad moments... but this? This episode is the peak!

Peak in which direction?

It was funny. That was literally the only time I self inserted as him. Destroying everything in a snap.

Dus someone dat autism?

Not really, his autism is far beyond my level

This

MC of isekai are self-insert for their main audience: disgusting otaku with no social skills or talent.

Of course those people are going to get upset when you put a mirror in front of their ugly faces

It really was a great episode. Second time watching made me appreciate it even more. His behaviour is litterally the common isekai MC, it's just exposed in a different light because the world doesn't bend over for him. The typical MC would insert himself right in the middle breaking all convencions, shame everyone with his shallow righteousness, have the girl be blushing with sparkling eyes, and own the uppity kinight with his cheat/"strongest in the world" powers. Emilia calling him right out was kino.

It's not entirely Subaru's fault. The curse prevents him from explaining which only makes him look crazier despite all the pain and effort he put in to save everyone in 2 arcs.

He wish he had died after that night fight so he could do a do over.

Him not listening to her and breaking a bunch of promises plus follow up cringe white knighting in ignorance of her feelings was his fault though.

Re zero is subtle dark comedy.

Kek

>you cringe
>so you must have self inserted
Why is that always the basic low IQ take?

Yes Subaru is a deeply flawed and entitled character, his situation is out of his control and just seems to be getting more adverse. This scene is an example of his half-catharsis, an effort to express his frustration which just furthers his dire situation and accomplishes nothing (other half probably being the 'from zero' chapter).

>shonenfags still seething that the MC is not their carbon copy flawless faggot
nice

That episode is autism so powerful that despite being fictional watching it inflicted physical pain on me in real life. It literally transcended the boundary of reality to hurt me.

I don't think its that hard to understand that a loser neet, the failures of society that lack the willpower to join the work force or higher education, would succumb to having a mental breakdown out of frustration after being transported to a new world, experiencing gruesome death multiple times, witnessing the object of your affections die, and not being able to explain your situation to anyone else

Thread already starting to turn into a character deconstruction of Subaru lol

why didn't Subaru write everything down on paper to explain his curse that way? the curse only prevented him from talking about it

>secondary
>retard
Which one is it?

how in the first place im sure most people would have fucked off from the start pussy is not worth dieing for even if im inmortal

I love Subaru. He perfectly encapsulates a realistic character's mental state as he undergoes drastic change and goes through endless traumas with no end in sight. His character actually feels like he was a NEET in his past life, rather than some charismatic renaissance man who is perfect at everything. He is meant to make you cringe, he is meant to make you uncomfortable, because that's how watching a broken man would make you feel.

>Ah yes, let me just break the promise i made to my waifu not even a few hours ago because i need to show her how much i really care about her by being there for her, that'll show her!
>Ah yes, this pretty boy is showing mild chivalry and a hint of flirtation to my waifu, might as well accept a mock duel from a trained knight when i'm a weak shut in neet, that'll show my waifu how strong I am!
Fucking Subaru.

More like Simpbaru.

I saw absolutely nothing wrong in this episode.

>when i'm a weak shut in neet,
he was in kendo club, that literally is why he thought he would stand a chance

literelly the only good episode, rest of the anime was pure garbage

Him breaking in and making a dramatic scene about how great Emilia is and how he'll protect her? Stupid and dumb but entertaining to watch.
Him having an utter mental seething breakdown because a knight was POLITE to his one sided love interest? That just hurt to watch.

That's what makes it all the more autism. Imagine being in a club focusing on a Japanese sword fighting style and accepting a challenge from a TRAINED KNIGHT that uses a completely new style in Lugunica, unheard of to an outsider like Subaru, and still thinking you can win.

reminder that it's canon that the worlds where he die are parallel timelines, it doesn't get erased by the RETURN BY DEATH hack, so there is a world where Subaru died acting like a fucking retard and left everyone dumbfounded
