Does anyone like classic anime? I finished Kimagure orange road and loved it. Any opinions?
Classics
I don't know I haven't seen it.
I have seen it and liked very much. Prototype of romcoms of today. All the tropes there, except a Harem. The music is top tier, but in overal quality, Maison Ikkoku is way ahead.

>Does anyone like classic anime?
Yes.
I made the mistake of watching KOR right after marathoning Maison Ikkoku, so the repeated tropes wore my patience too thin. That said, it was still pretty enjoyable. The music is top tier, and the two sequel movies justified the time spent watching the tv show.
The only thing I really miss of the 80's animes it is how the music is so good even in random obscure series. When japanese forgot how to sing?

I had the exact same experience. Too much time listening to Future Funk clips on youtube. It is not really bad. Is just that KOR is a average rom com while Maison Ikkoku is way better written althought takes 96 episodes, that is really tiring. No 12 episode season back then. But the music, man.

Glad yall like it as much as i do.. IM so into the 80's animes. Dirty Pair, Bubblegum Crysis, KOR. im in love
Soon enough the kids of seasonal anime crying that we have nostalgia filter will appear.
i've seen my fair share of modern and classic but i just cant get over the music and the hand drawn stuff. It's all nostalgia that i wasn't alive for but wish i was fuck
Welcome to our generation. I wasn't even born before 1994.
80's Japan was the confiest place on earth. And is all gone now.

Marathoned through Maison Ikkoku for the first time last week and I'm still in post-series depression. Haven't come out that satisfied with a romance and ending in a very long time. Still listening to its ost as well.

Seems like I should hold off on watching KOR though.
It's fantastic and Maison Ikkoku is shit. Especially that fucking faggot who always brings up Maison Ikkoku whenever someone talks about Kimagure Orange Road.
Fuck you, faggot!
You're mentally ill.
I just wish we could retro style shows even if they're total cash-ins on nostalgia. I don't mean in visual tryhard style, but just slice of life set back then, even if they add a grain filter.
Wow! Thanks for sharing, retard!
Best girl forever.

You must the first person on the planet with that opinion, for real. No one likes KOR more like that. Even people that like both agree that Maison is better. KOR is the base of all the cliches in Rom coms today.
Japanese in general do not have that much nostalgia about that era as western otakus have.
Probably the first tsundere that is not a bitch. The MC deserved all the hate.
I think KOR survives just on the premise of it being relatively well made and standing out among a crowd of anime where it only had few competitors, like MI or UY. Had it aired in the mid 90s it probably wouldn't have garnered much support. Stuff like Ai Shite Knight or Hikari Densetsu just don't stand out much.
The Legend coupes were some nice ass cars, they do not make them like this anymore.
I've been reading the GITS manga, it's breddy good
Don't see why not, unless the bubble crash made them resent it. They were flush with cash, their economy was booming so much Aemricans feared Japanese buyouts of firms, everyone wanted Japanese electronics and cars.
It had some competition, but it was not like today when 10 new romance anime are released every season. It also has a tons of tropes thar were new back then. So, shit we see all the time now, was new back in 1984. It has a lot of value in visuals and soundtrack, that is a agreement between everyone. But if was remade today, it would be called rip off.
The MC really annoys me. He is not dense or autistic, he is just coward.
The bad times tend to mark more. We don't see a lot of works in the 20's in the west, I guess.
MI is just Ranma 1/2 without the martial arts.
There's Touch, Kobocha Wine, Tokimeki Tonight, and Aishite Night
Not really. Maison Ikkoku is the only romance that has any realism of all shit japan publishes every year. Ranma do not has to pay bills or work at all. He has his own harem. Its just good old teasing comedy. Godai is a poor bastard always on the end of the stick.
Wish someone would continue on Kabocha Wine, show was mad comfy. Still, with as many examples as can be named, there's as many shows made every single season now.
The thing that pisses me off more it is this tendency now that nothing has continuation or ending on purpose. Before the 12 episode format, if made success, it would go on until people just don't cared anymore and filling with filler. Urusei Yatsura has around 200 episodes and 5 movies and not even got the end. HAving to read the manga after is reallly annoying.
