I really liked the directorial touches that clearly were put into it. The way the scenes were rearranged, the eye for shot composition, etc. Sure, there were a lot of wide shots with faceless characters that people take as lazy animation, but honestly I kinda feel like it was more an intentional decision to add more emphasis to the discussion.

Give it some more time and you get the big bad organization that are a bunch of deus vault looking guys looking to turn the Earth into a Sun.
Also, it's the same guy that did Soul Eater, so they also start getting into some eldritch tier stuff later on. Anime only really gets to scratching the surface by the end of the first season, but a second one is coming.

The writing, plot, and fight structure are all bad. All of the same issues that Soul Eater had. It has a lot of positives but all of the loosely connected scenes and plots make it almost impossible to invest in it.

I think the show was good, but that second season was already in the works from the start. It's more like a large split cour thing.
Guess they realized how bad they fucked up Soul Eater so they timed things better and actually planned this time. The manga is pretty much starting in it's final arc at this point most likely.
