Obviously he was most interesting when he was weak and surrounded by stronger characters or at least had to go through horrible pain and permanent bodily injury to keep pace.
That's the problem. 100% of his character came from his weakness. If you want to keep him interesting you have to give him something else when he's blazing passed the rest of the cast in competence but still acting like the underdog.

Retarded, but I like the idea of Deku going villain especially since Stain opened up the idea that the average hero is more interested in fame than actually saving people.
