How do you make time for manga and/or anime...

How do you make time for manga and/or anime? There is too much to watch and read and I feel like I'm constantly behind everyone else. There is just so much out there that I get genuinely anxious over how much I am missing out on and how much catch up I have to do. There are hundreds of iconic series and movies I have yet to experience. How does the rest of Yas Forums administer their time?

I watch and read whatever the fuck I feel like and don't give a shit about comparing myself to others because it's fucking anime

By not being a faggot. Just watch what you wanna watch at your own pace.

fpbp

Stop comparing yourself to other people. Especially over retarded shit like this.
Also watch/read instead of shitposting on Yas Forums.

i take it well because if there's a lot of essential shit i haven't seen, then it means there's a lot of good stories i haven't experienced yet!
anime is for enjoyment, user. take your time.

I already watched most of the classics in the early 00's. You gotta not be a zoomer. Though I have met a guy who watched more anime than me in 2 years. You just have to be autistic or something.

you're experiencing fomo, which cripples you because you believe you're not only behind everyone in literal terms of reading/watching shit, but also socially behind for not reading/watching shit. if you feel like you need to read/watch shit to be "in" with people, you're not going to be motivated to watch/read shit you actually want to read/watch, since you're going to view the stuff you're engaging in as more part of a social competition than just stuff to entertain you.

>not learning japanese

You fucked up big time favela

>not having learned Japanese by the time you first consumed Japanese media

Who are you qouting

Watching anime is supposed to be fun. You're supposed to enjoy the moment, rather than rushing to finish the show to start watching the next show.

I just read manga and don't bother for anime since a decade ago. If you really enjoy it, then you don't have to worry about discussing it with everyone else and read/watch at your own pace.

currently watching this brocon's anime rn and i want to fuck blonde girl that is all

>fomo
I had never heard that before, but you seem to be right on the money. I do enjoy what I'm watching; right now I'm in the middle of going through The Big O and it's been a pretty sweet ride so far. I just see people with other 200 watched anime and I feel ignorant and completely out of my depth, like I'm not worth talking to. I guess I am the problem here rather than my inexperience.

I can guarantee you that watching more anime won't make you more worth talking to

Hopefully Japan gets fucked by virus give me some time to get though the backlog

>200 watched anime is a lot
Boy, you really have a long way to go.

Yeah, I don't talk to other people irl much about anime. But since I do enjoy watching people talk about anime, be it in person or just by reading or listening to what someone else has to say, I kind of project myself into that. Like, because I find it knowing about an art form an appealing trait I also want to share it, and when I don't I feel like an idiot. Same thing happens to me with books and movies; I never know enough to feel satisfied with myself. This is starting to look like a blogpost, so I'll just shut up.

Why would I be anxious over the fact that there is years worth of supply of entertainment that I can enjoy instead of killing myself?
Just watch the seasonals and 1-2 episodes of an older show every day, plus marathon the good stuff on weekends

it's not so much just you as it is a lot of people regarding anime/manga nowadays. remember that a lot of people used anime/manga as a means to socialize and belong to a group with others, rather than actually enjoying whatever they're watching/reading. like says, you won't be more interesting to talk to, just a bit more knowledgeable on some things, though you could literally just read a wiki entry for this. just relax, don't worry about being caught in a rat race with others to fit in, and fully enjoy w/e the fuck you're doing. hell, rewatch shit you like more instead, and show it to others if you really want to, be it on Yas Forums or irl.

Fucking hell, that's exactly the problem. I know that's a small number for the people here, and I'm way behind that.

It certainly makes Yas Forums more enjoyable. When you understand what every single thread on the catalog is about feels good man. You can enter any thread and engage if you want to.

You're right. I do wish I could isolate myself from outside opinion and not care so much about being left behind. The thing is that I do enjoy what I watch, I just want to watch more. As it stands, with all the other stuff going on in my life, I tend to watch 2 episodes of something a day, which is nothing. I don't know whether this is because I manage my time poorly or because that's all I can actually do.

if the issue purely is just wanting to watch more, then figuring out your own pace to watch shit is all you really need to do, which is moreso dependent on your irl circumstances than anything. if you're not a neet/hikki/student then you'll probably not have enough free time in the day to watch more than say an hour or two of whatever, that's just how it is.

I am a student, but I am pretty disastrous at administering my tine. I try to cram up my studying with exercise with school papers with reading books with anime. Guess I just need to accept my circumstances and do my best with what I have.

The more reason not to care and just focus on what you like. Most discussion about art is all about opinion, not knowledge. Quantity is not quality, watching more anime doesn't mean you will have more interesting things to talk about. Finding stuff you feel passionate about is more important than wasting time with "critically acclaimed" stuff.

It's not a dick measuring contest unless you are an autist

Ignore One Piece, ignore Naruto and ignore Bleach. Watch Eva just because you really can't say you didn't and be taken seriously. Watch Madoka. Ignore seasonal shows until you have watched all the old shows frequently discussed. Once you're over 100 then watch seasonal shit.

>It's not a dick measuring contest
>he's not an autist
Hello newfag.

You just do what you want??? My brother work 18 hours a day and on top of that have a family with 3 children to take care of, and with all these on top of him he still find time to sit and watch anime while he eats or work, and he watches some obscure shit I didn't even knew existed, well, he's kinda a /m/fag and I'm a 0 on mecha shit so it might look obscure just to me, point is that, if he can make time to watch what he fucking want, why can't you?

Funny thing is, if you only watched those three you have probably watched more anime than someone who only watched all of the old shows Yas Forums loves.

I'm in the process of that. I did feel guilty for a long time for not watching EVA and eventually I did. I only watched the original plus End of EVA, both of which I loved. I still have to watch Madoka; I've been following one of those "worthwhile anime" charts and so far I've liked everything. My objective now is to watch everything listed there and move on from there. Naruto and Bleach don't call out to me, but I want to watch YYH and HxH, even if they're long. I need to catch up on JoJo as well; I barely know anything about it.

You would have ingested a lot of shit, that's for sure.

Just stop caring, cause you'll never catch on.

Watch a youtube reaction mashup or watch a 30 minute video on the manga

Madoka is 10x better than eva

I see your point. I want to try a bit of everything to find what I am passionate about. I thought I wasn't into mecha until I saw TTGL and EVA, and while not crazy about them, it doesn't pull me away from giving mecha a chance now. I've avoided coming to Yas Forums at all for weeks because I realized I needed to catch up a lot before I was able to contribute anything of value to this board.

Are the things you're feeling like you're being left behind with >10 years old? If so you've already missed out so stop worrying about it. The old shows that are still getting threads now will still probably be around for years to come.
Also there are some shows that never get any threads, it shouldn't stop you watching them if they interest you.

I'm autistic about wanting to be 100% focused on what I'm doing without eating or working, but kudos to your brother; I wish I could be more like him.

I don't know about 10x but Madoka is one of the best shows ever made.

I've had it built up a lot over the years; I hope that it fulfills those expectations. Will it be as good for someone who is barely familiarized with the Magical Girl genre?

You can already do that if you pretend you watched the show.

Popularity doesn't really keep me from watching a show; I try to give everything a chance to see if it connects. I'm either extremely lucky or extremely forgiving because everything I've watched so far I enjoyed, even the weaker stuff. But yeah, most stuff is over a decade old. I'm one of those people who thinks they need to work their way up from the classics if they want to really appreciate the newer stuff.

No idea because I already was. It'll sure set the bar high though.

By not trying to watch every single show every season.

Probably not, because when you've been watching mahou shoujo anime for decades and then Modoka came along. It changed the game. If you don't already know the game. It might not have the same effect.

The real answer is to trim the fat. My vidya and anime backlog is less than 30 for each now. Beat around 110 games last year
