Why is it so hated?

I thought it was ok, kinda mainstreamed a bit but you cant really push anime without tacking on some waifu bullshit.

It wouldnt even be that horrible if it wasnt a FLCL sequel. I mean it would still be pretty boring but the fact that theyre trying to make a sequel to such a personal intimate show like FLCL spells disaster. If they wanted to do it justice it shouldve been a Diebuster kind of sequel, taking the theme and some elements of the old show and letting a new team put theyre own spin on it. As it stands it seems like the producers were constantly like "oh da old show did that do that new guys!" For a sequel to one of the most creatively free shows ever made, it feels weirdly restrictive.
Plus like the designs are generic waifu stuff made to make people on twitter be like "oooo cat earphones"

Because it sucks

I think at the end of the day it just didn't really have much to say in the same way the original one did. The protagonists didn't really share a lot of chemistry with Haruko in the same way Naota did, and their problems and struggles felt really melodramatic and extremely outward whereas Haruka had to literally pull the problems Naota had about himself out of him. What made FLCL work was that Naota is what a lot of young boys at the age actually are like, which made him way more relatable as a protagonist. It grounded the setting a reality of boyhood while all this insane shit happened around him. FLCL Prog felt like someone who only got half the message of the FLCL was trying to say and made a whole series about it.

You post the Bubonic plague and ask why no one enjoys a painful death. Stop baiting.
Alexander Gonzalez
>shitty sequel that no one wanted
>sequel made by people who didn't make the original
>gaijin money instead of japanese interest and investement
Pick one or pick them all. This shit was a travesty and insulted the original OVA just by existing.
Jose Smith
why it shouldn't?
Jack Roberts
it's like watching a shitty fanfic

I like progressive more but it's still alright
Cringe

It was really close to being good. I think it ultimately leaned a bit too far into the original and that hurt the climax.
David Bailey
Simple: Souless cashgrab by company that thrives on soulless cashgrabs with no input from original staff (iirc, I.G never even reached out to Imaishi and co. to do any animation on it either).
Gabriel Campbell
Shameless reuse of Iconic things from the original while also completely missing the point of them and of the original in general.
Nathan King
Yeah, this. Episode 4 was the peak and was arguably as good as the original. It just kinda lost steam towards the end.
Benjamin Ward
Shit taste confirmed
Michael Turner
Literally any frame in the original is better than the sequels
Matthew Thompson
Hurr durr any opinion I dont agree with is cringe. Shut the fuck up.
Jackson Reyes
But what about the real question: Any good songs by the Pillows made for this?
Carson Wright
>why is a poorly animated animation-based show is hated?
It needed a top tier writing to compensate for the fact that it looked like absolute garbage, but this was just a shitty cash grab.
Julian Flores
the ED was alright i guess.
Dominic Clark
Threw out any semblance of a chance I was gonna give this thing no one asked for when they announced they were using the pillows again.
Ethan Gomez
Because it was awful. It tried too hard to be FLCL without understanding what made FLCL FLCL.

Japanese audio out? i didnt want to watch it in english disgusting shit
Nolan Clark
This happened.
David Hill
Because it didn't need a sequel and a spinoff. If AS was going to spend money on a sequel to an anime that broadcasted on it's channel they should've gone with something like Outlaw Star.
Cameron Phillips
The dumb bitch director was rejected so she went somewhere else and bought the rights to write some shit and it turned out worse than anything. I gotta rewatch the original FLCL but I’ll never be 12 and watching it in the middle of the night ever again.
Whoever is responsible for this should have their animators rights revoked and forever removed from the industry for trying to capitalize on a shitty trope that already doninated the market. Blah blah new girl. Who cares. Every other fucking series this (that time) season has a girls cast. You brought FLCL back from the dead with so many memories intact and you shat on them while using our favorite vespa lady as a method of racking in cash because that’s literally the only reason why anyone watched that crap.
Luke Cruz
Imagine going to someone and asking for something, and specifically told “no, you may not.” and then going to someone else to swipe it even though you were specifically told that you were not allowed to just so you can write your own bullshit headcannon.
Come on.
Samuel Lewis
It tried being a sequel to one of the greatest anime ever created.
Nicholas Carter
big o season 3
Michael Gutierrez
Can we all just stop being retarded and admit that digital animation ruined it?
The original looked way more natural. All this stuff about capturing the audience and plot is just nonaense.
It just looks bad.
