Pretty much, just make the animation look a bit older. Naruto is at the very least equal if not better than Dragon Ball Z, Saint Seiya, Yuyu Hakusho and Mazinger Z and those are loved as classic and not judged as harshly.

Kubo is even a worse writer and had a way bigger fall down in terms of quality and sales alike and he even fucked most of his fanbase with the last arc and ships but he Still has loyal drones who worship him!

Kubo fell down sharply after the Soul Society arc, also by the final Quincy War arc you already knew what you were getting into (Tons of pages with characters just standing there cool, not much happening, you know all fights will be resolved with some last-minute asspull ability like always).
When Kubo did something good it was a nice surprise.
So I think he doesn't get as much hate because Kubo kinda sucked and only the biggest fans are still following his threads and defending him, either that or you just know Kubo sucks so you don't hate him.
I know I followed Bleach out of pure inertia without hard feelings.
Meanwhile Naruto had consistently good stuff in it but Kishimoto then fucked up at times and you were invested so you hate him. Even the very final arc had Gai vs Madara which is one of the fan-favorite fights of the whole series... kinda ruined by Madara regenerating in 5 seconds with no lasting damage

Because Kubo's shit writing has a good trade of for great character design and aesthetic art. And he's a God level troll, which help with storytelling and making a story interesting.
Kishi'd shit writing has nothing to balance it, once he fucked over the main themes and the charm of OG Nardo there was nothing left to make the ride enjoyable. Kubo at least made it a wild ride.
