Sure he was menacing at first, they did a good job displaying some of his sometimes disgusting powers, and then came the tentacle flaling.

I doubt it, the manga is obviously setting up the hope that he'll be cured by Kanao only to crush it by probably having Tanjirou embrace his new title as Demon King. I agree with OP that a timeskip or a change in the main premise may happen since most of the characters are dead.

Except it took time and will power because Muzan was trying to find a way to break it down. He was basically trying to find the cure for the cure and did. It's the reason Kanao never stabbed him with this new cure because it wouldn't have been effective at all.

I think everyone thought wani would go with the "more formal" option. Kanao is older than Tanjirou (a few months) so this is kinda weird. Well, Kanao using "Nezuko-chan is not that surprising but Nezuko using Kanao-chan is weird but kinda cute. Make them seem very close.

I think the series could have gotten a lot more out of Muzan balancing trying to be king of the ring with being a petulant child. Unfortunately Wani would rather structure the story as more of a series of vignettes for each demon, so there's very little to work with before they fight.
