Crunchyroll was looking for cheap licenses to throw some money at and make into "Crunchroll Originals" and ToG is one of the more well known korean webtoons.

The plot is all over the damn place because the story gets bogged down and sidetracked every other arc while the author stalls for time to figure out what to do with the story next.

im with you that most webtoons look like dogshit wikihow articles but thankfully with an adaptation it doesn't matter if it's webtoon art. and to tog's credit the writing is good even if you don't like webtoon art. manga with much much worse writing have been given high budget adaptations.

The art in the webtoon actually gets much better later on, as the artist practices more. Still a while til there though, like past the first hundred chapters or so

Does the lizard ever even do anything after the first arc. I just remember her being a background character the entire time until I stopped reading partway through the train.

I dropped this series when the Isekai arc happened, and I don’t believe she is.
