Berserk

I finally caught up on Berserk. I hope this topic hasn't been discussed to death, but...
Who is he, Yas Forums?

For a while, I just assumed that the Egg took away any deformities from Casca and Guts' child during Griffith's reincarnation, and that this must be his astral body or whatever, since he can only come around during the full moon. Further reassuring me that he must only be an astral body, he can communicate with Guts while he is in berserker. I thought his only ties to Griffith at that point where just his emotions.
After reading the last 2 chapters though... Is he actually Griffith himself on full moon nights? As in, his body transforms to Moonboy and he finds his way to Guts and Casca for the night? Was his hair turning darker at the end of that chapter?

Pic related is what I'm referring to

No clear identity for moon boy but yes, most have the theory he’s Griffith/shares the same body as him.
When moon boy appears, Zodd has also been shown to be nearby.

Griffith stole the baby's body in order to reincarnate (with the help of the Behelit Apostle), but baby's spirit is able to exert it's influence on full moons, is the way I read it

What would Guts try to do if he knew this information? Considering Casca doesn't get in his way, somehow. Kill Moonboy, should he ever be able to? What effect would that have on Griffith?

I think knowing that his hypothetical son had his body stolen by Griffith might be a good enough motivation to help Guts get over that whole "Maybe revenge isn't all it's cracked up to be" phase he's in right now

I would love to see Zodd betray Griffith and accompany Guts, Rickert and co. to try and defeat him.

8 more days until next chapter of Berserk.

How close is berserk to ending? I know a new chapter comes out soon but I don't want to pick up the manga until endgame is around the corner

Excited for it!

We're around halfway there

I haven't read it myself, but a friend told me that in Miura's last interview, apparently he said when Berserk comes back, he will be getting ready to start the final arc.
Gonna try to see if I can find anything on this right now

It must be around 60%?

I couldn't find anything to back this up, only articles from Sept 2019 stating the story was "in its later stages."

>world tree fast travel is used to bring everyone together
>Guts uses the power of love to defeat Griffith
THE END

Yeah, there's no exact statement on how complete the story is.
The exact wording Miura used when asked was "後ろのほうには来てますよ". 'Ushiro no hou ni wa kitemasuyo', aka "we're reaching the back end". So probably like 70% through ish.

He did say that the island arc is coming to an end soon now that Caska is back. And that the next arc should be pretty surprising.

I hope the next arc is just all about Rickert's Bizarre Adventure and there's no appearances from Guts or Griffith's groups

Lmao.

>there are people who still believe Berserk will ever be completed
Whatever you're on, I want some of that

I don't mean that as a joke, it would give Miura an opportunity to explore faraway lands without the baggage of the rest of the series if only ever so briefly.

It's military grade denial, you don't want this trust me

Yes, most common theory is the child and Griffith share the same body and on full moon nights the child can take over
The first time the child appears in chapter 238 you can see in the shadow the silhouette of Zodd's horn overlooking the group as he''s keeping watch on Griffith's body

On the one hand, it'd be cool, yes.

On the other hand, if its not directly related to advancing the plot, I just don't want it, at this point. Miura is slow enough as it is.

What do we have left to do before the end of the manga? I can't think of any plot threads but the god hand is still way too fucking overpowered for them to beat

I remember reading this thing where Miura was talking about how much he liked Guin Saga and how Guin Saga could switch perspective between different groups of characters. I believe his reason for sending Rickert and his merry assassin friends on a road trip is to have access to a separate group to focus on outside the main heroes and main villains.
But that's just me. When I went looking for a source I only found one interview where he talked about Guin Saga and he didn't say that in it so maybe I imagined it?

The secret history of Gaseric and Void will be told in a flashback sequence equal in length to the Golden Age.

Considering the legend of Gaiseric points to a previous set of godhands different from the current ones it's very likely that whatever happens at the end of this cycle involves the death/sacrifice of most of them, after that if Griffith's the only one left then some moonboy hackery could lead to his defeat

>5 angels
>angels are born every 216 years
>the entire world is ~1000 years old
???????????

>the entire world is ~1000 years old
Nani the fuck are you saying?

>the entire world is ~1000 years old
That's the time since the fall of Gaiseric's kingdom, not the age of the world, assuming Void was the guy trapped at the tower of conviction then he was reborn close to year 0 making the year of the eclipse around year 864 since Void's rebirth

YAAAAY GRIFFITH-SAMA'S COMING BACK
