Character's durability rarely makes sense in OP, e.g. Ceasar and Spandam can take way more punishment than reasonable because Oda thinks it's more satisfying if they're beaten up a lot. But this one actually makes sense. Katakuri has quasi-logia and trained himself in a technique which allows himself to avoid damage. Doffy has nothing like that, he started from the bottom and had to make his way up to the top with no magical immunity to anything. It makes sense one is easier to bring down than the other.

I really hope it's not finished with "he's Luffy's friend so whatever". That would actually be a sign of ultimate disrespect to Luffy, Shanks should treat him like an adult and consider it a war declaration. It would be nice for SHs to get into a pirate fight not because the other site is evil, but just because they're a rival crew, like people did a lot in the Roger era. Right now only WG conflicts have grey undertones.
