For Mint.

that was the joke
anyway I guess I'll give it a watch

Are there any other magical girl series with a similar feel? Sci-fi, themes of protecting animals and nature, bioterrorism, etc.

We have too many dubfags around to joke about that.

i'll watch the pretty boy one

I don't know if it's nostalgia or what, but I think the dub had some catchy tracks (namely the transformation themes - "It's Supernatural" and "We've got the Animal Instinct").

my main computer is broken right now, otherwise I'd be sharing screenshots from my rewatch several years back

Yes, I do. Dunno if I want to rewatch the old anime though.

I vaguely remember fapping to the purple haired one when I was 13 y/o
so yes

Great taste.

No, but I still find it strange that it seems like they want a complete newbie to voice the MC.

The little monkey girl gave me boners as a kid I think. Sure, I'll give it a watch.

It's for some idol project, whatever it means.
I wonder if the other seiyuu will change as well.

Bu-Ling/Pudding.
Zakuro. For some reason her name stays the same in Mew form.

>For some reason her name stays the same in Mew form.
Even in Japanese "Mew Pomegranate" would have sounded bad as fuck.

>Sci-fi, themes of protecting animals and nature, bioterrorism, etc.
I think you are overestimating Mew Mew. It's just a dumb majokko series.
As for sci-fi and magical girls, try Corrector Yui.

Sci-fi = the girls are referred to as "biological weapons", they gain their powers from DNA, the antagonists are psychic aliens
Themes of protecting animals and nature = they fight corrupted animals and save them from said corruption, their superpower DNA comes from endangered animal species (this isn't a coincidence because it very clearly contributes thematically), there is specifically an episode about an injured bird if I remember correctly
Bioterrorism = what the aliens were doing - changing the biology of animals and people and turning them into monsters

Now of course the sci-fi was light in the sense that it was basically setting dressing and if you change it to magic nothing changes - except for the aesthetic, which contributes to its specific feel. Like calling supernatural mind powers psionics vs magic, functionally there is little difference but aesthetically the feeling is different.

Yes

A few years ago Mews were remembered for a bit because of then-current Precure team, KiraKira, who were 5 animal-themed (rabbit, squirrel, lion, cat and dog) magical girls that worked at a cafe. Comparisons stopped fairly quickly because that series focused much less on the animal aspect and much more on the cafe aspect.

I'm surprised by Tokyo Mew Mew's seeming obscurity in the West given that it was dubbed by 4Kids.

I watched it when I was younger before I really even knew what anime was.
It got me into catgirls and set me on a long, dark path.

I remember watching TMM and thinking pink's male love interest belonged in a hentai. He looked like someone who would grow up into one of those guys that NTR's other people.

How's the original hold up?
I watched it with my aneki when it came out so that will likely bias any opinions I have about what I can remember.
