Garbage. Modern Nips can't really write a dark themed story without being an edgy 12 year old. Also it has retarded character designs.

That entire story was one ass pull after the other. It was well executed in terms of pacing and interested, but those were still ass pulls. The best episodes were the ones where they didn't try to break the rules too much, so the middle episodes and the one where the main characters lives for a year inside the well.
The studio did a really good job over all. It's clear they had zero budget, but all the wells are fun to look at.

If I recall correctly the majority of the rules (in terms of how the wells and such worked at least) were clarified within the first few episodes through character interaction.The thing with Fukuda and the detective thing was just symbolism/foreshadowing. But I agree with you that some things could have been conveyed more subtly, Fukuda's ramblings did often verge on the border of pretentious psychobabble.

Sure, but that doesn't give it carte blanche to keep adding rules every single episode.
All scifi / fantasy stories ask you to accept some non realistic premise, but within that premise the stories are expected to keep logical consistency.
It's the last three episodes that go overboard. Most of the show is consistent.
