That would still have been fine had he not also handled Rei wrong. He indulged himself treating her like a pseudo-daughter for the minutes a week he felt like pretending to parent, just enough for her to think she could be people and resent him for his inadequacy, until the critical moment and his secret weapon spun around on him.

I can't find any fault in a man who sacrificed everything for his waifu. He's an inspiration.
