Why don't mangaka make a patreon or similar? They're probably make way more money that way and the foreign fans that scanlate could at least contribute then
Why don't mangaka make a patreon or similar...
Some already do.
Japs aren't smart
Oh shut the fuck up and go back twitter or reddit you stupid dumb bitch. Mangaka do it because they enjoy it not for the money you stupid bitch.
Because they actually have an effective means of disturbing their work through actual publishers and don't need to pan handle.
A lot of artists use Fantia... probably because Patreon is fucking psycho over its monitoring of adult content.
contracts with distributors probably
*distributing
Enjoy your hiatus due to "health" issues
They have fantia over there, burger-kun.
>Patreon is psycho over adult content >almost every r34 artist has one.
What do you think Pixiv Fanbox is for?
>Mangaka do it because they enjoy it
lads...whos gonna tell him???
and I bet they keep their loli/shouta/incest content off Patreon, right?
Heh you’re right because now all of a sudden Lolis are “cp”. At least twitter lets them get away with it
how many times are you going to complain about mangakas telling you not to pirate their manga with the reason that they could make more money by allowing piracy even though they don't give a fuck about your money?
Nope, at least those obscure fetish artists I follow still post them there.
Hey, Digibro
They wouldn't make "way more money'. Their patreons would make very little unless they were popular mangaka, in which case they would be making plenty from their manga.
Hey retard ever heard of fanbox
I don't feel like that would help them that much? Their biggest problem seems to be the super thight schedules they work on, not a lack of funding, adding patreon rewards on top of that would only make it worse.
I've seen several artists that do, mostly doujin artists and some animators, but you overestimate the amount that they would get. Patreon is also biased to either porn or high quality painted illustrations like sakimichan. Artists who don't do those things have to scrabble in the dirt.
Working with a publisher also gives you an editor to help shape your ideas, and more immediate connections with other artists and assistants. Going it alone is difficult, and usually only done as a side gig.
Didn't patreon just ban anime style too?
Because once they start taking money for illegal reproductions of their work it makes it harder for the licensing company to defend them and the copyright. If they're small enough time for that not to matter then they wouldn't be making patreon money anyway.
>obscure
Now that won't make as much money for mangaka, right?
Some have Fantia, Fanbox or Ci-en which are like the Japanese equivalents.
>they do it for free
The artists should use it to make porn of their characters.
>Fantia
but isnt that restricted to Japan
Wish Patreon still showed all pledges by default. Although this number probably wasn't accurate at the time, anyway.
25k in 2weeks for those trash drawings?
>Mangaka do it because they enjoy it not for the money
I've read that it's not entirely accurate, since many people will sub only to get past rewards and then unsub. Still, they currently have over 8000 patrons at the moment, and all just for pinups. I don't hate the art, but I can't imagine paying for illustrations every month unless I was funding a visual novel or something. I'd rather just buy a book from an artist.
