connect your computer to a TV screen then
I’ve been buying anime VHS tapes lately... feels comfy as fuck to watch on my CRT.
It’s nice. It’s adds to the experience.
Never watched anime on TV desu.
If I watched anime on TV my friends would laugh at me for being a homosexual
I don't; I honestly don't understand people's nostalgia for old technology.
Before you call me underage I'm 35 years old (man, time is flying too fast for my taste) and I'm glad we don't have to deal with VHS or any kind of magnetic tape anymore. I'm sure as hell I wouldn't like to go back to use a typewriter every time I need to write something or back to a 56k modem and internet over analog phone just because some people say that "it has soul" or something.
I guess you don’t have to understand it but it but old technology definitely turns me on!
>I don't; I honestly don't understand people's nostalgia for old technology.
Most olderstuff was made with that older technology in mind. Old anime or vidya looks way better on CRTs than upscaled for modern display standards.
>I miss watc--
>I feel nos-
Just buy a CRT and cheap anime DVD.
Ah the good old days, before 9/11. Watching VHS tapes that are copies of copies of copies. On a 54" rear projection tv. Using pause and the jog wheel to savor the fan service and read fan subtitles.
I miss old animes
*blocks your path*
They already do that
>those days when you actually feels hype
yeah user, we are oldbros
>sitting in school waiting to rush home to watch monster rancher, sailor moon, pokemon and dragonballz
>fox kids started showing stuff like escaflowne and technoman later in the evening
Fuck bros it was so good. Everything's so readily available now
the best way to watch anything is on a comfy laptop with a 4k screen laying down on a plump leather couch underneath a mountain of blankets with a mug of hot tea. prove me wrong literally impossible. i win
That looks pretty fucking comfy
As a person who has spent way too many hours dealing with vertical hold, tint, VHS tracking, SVHS tracking, UHF antennas, time base correctors, genlocks, and every other godforsaken gadget to improve video quality and the overall analog experience over the years, all I can say to CRTs now is that they are sort of comfy, and that's it.
PC->OLED now. The old VHS can stay in the garage.
this, it just isn't worth the effort
I saw someone throwing a Trinitron away last year, but I wasn't strong enough to pick it up and I have no friends so I had to leave it there. If anyone isn't aware, Trinitrons were flat screen HD CRT tvs, made right before the switch to plasma/LCD/LED. Most predated 16:9, but towards the end there were some models made with that aspect ratio. They were truly some of the finest TVs ever made. God I wish I had friends.
You can never revive those times user.
>I’ve been buying anime VHS tapes lately
Is there really a market for them?
I have some EVA and some Pokemon movies on VHS would have been more, but I had a bunch stolen while moving house and I can't justify buying a VHS player.
A few more of those and you'll have a cyberpunk video wall.
Damn, takes me back to the early 2000's.
>It's the early 2000's
>you're in elementary school and it's movie day
>everyone sitting on the floor
>teacher wheels in the big metal cart with a TV and VHS player on it
>you have a styrofoam bowl full of cheerios or some other snack food
>starts the VHS for whatever kids' movie it is
>trailer for Kiki's Delivery Service or some other Ghibli movie plays at the start
Any other late millennial/early zoomers remember that feel?

You can still watch anime on a TV.
but muh soul don't you chumps get it
I unironically love the shitty old ads and trialers they put on anime VHS tapes back in the day. Back when anime was not so easily attainable and I couldn't just look everything up on the internet, getting one was like discovering an ancient and mysterious treasure. The ads got me so hyped up. It was like a party.
I remembered Anime Network.
Forgot my shitty old ads.
youtube.com
I-it died?
Shame they never show it in the UK
Unironically agree.
They used to up until 2004. Then every channel just sort of dropped it all
What is a comfy laptop?
