Is the the most we lve ever seen greymon move?
Greymon never ever fights hand to hand before.
THEY DID IT! THE ABSOLUTE MADMEN DID IT!
So much better than just having Greymon use a stock animation of Mega Flame all the fucking time. Also, I love adult digimon voices in this series way more than how they fluctuated in the original
Is it a different va? I definitely remember not liking the japanese va for older digimons in the old one. This one sounded really good.
The power of love.
Even if this arc is sort of a rip-off of War Game, it still feels different enough to be new and refreshing. I honestly hope the rest of the new season goes off the rails in a still entertaining way.
Casual Digifag here, this shit is great.
I like how they actually fight like real anime characters now instead of the Pokémon battles we had in the original.
It also means the Digimon will have hard fights against bosses AND have a chance at winning that doesn't involve crying and evolving to the next level, just some good ol Shonen motivation
Koushiro is one of us!
I think it's the same seiyuu, might be the experience gained in the 20 years. I'll have to confirm if it's the same though
I not really a big fan of the original Yamato but I actually liked the way they played him here, slightly 'less' of a lone wolf and edgy than I expected.
Action-wise, yes. Animation-wise, yes. Plot-wise and character-wise. Idk.
Yep, it's Chika Sakamoto for both series
Is Koushiro also a fujo?
It's a nice callback that they need Hikari and Takeru crest to form Omegamon just like how in the original they needed them to warp evolve.
Chadmon is here!
That´s a pretty nice touch indeed.
This is gonna be great!
Was there ever any doubt Koushiro was /ourboy/?
Do people actually use their computer like this? With these small windows layered on top of each other?
>already have more animation by episode 2 than the original entire run
I'm liking it, but it's so hard to get too invested when I know the Covid-19 delays are lurking around the corner. I hope they did get more than a few episodes finished.
Let's fuck these brats Greymon
>character-wise
This is a trongpoint imo, good thing that they made Yamato more likeable this time, without losing character, Izzy is perfect too. And well, Tai is Tai
It was nostalgia bait at its finest. Takeru and Hikari interacted with digital feathers in the background, unlike in the original where both characters had to play a more active role by bestowing their brothers and their partner Digimon with angelic powers.
We really don't know enough to evaluate the plot considering this isn't an original story by them (they're recycling war game but are self aware since they used the title) and also they haven't reached the Digital World which is the reason I even follow digimon. The real plot and setting will be established there so this is one big preview to hook in ADHD viewers
>burning Omegamon this fucking early
I know he's the Mewtwo of Digimon, but fucking hell.
I assume they have up to at least 4 since they already showed the synopsis
But damn, it really sounded great than before. The digimon voices were the one thing i liked about the dub over the og
I hope its atleast 13 episodes done.
It´s a tablet.
Also it was pretty cool they got Omegamon because Taichi & Yamato both wanted to protect their sibling the most.
These episodes has so much SOUL on them so far.
Mac users tend to, but not really on Windows.
Is it a guarantee that there'll be a Covid delay? I'm being blissfully ignorant I know, their working conditions are the kind of industry that needs to be shut down with so many people drawing frames together, but who knows, maybe Japan continues animating
How much popularity does WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon have in comparison to Omegamon?
That is a good point, I'd rather they delay the series, opposed to the quality falling off a cliff with 1/3 of the staff working on it.
I CAME!
A bunch of other shows are being delayed too, it's only a matter of time for this one. And keep in mind that it's not just the animators who'd be affected, but the VAs too. Many are unable to do any work right now.
2020 is fucking trash
The cast in the original series each had glaring flaws that they had to overcome in order to grow as people and to learn to cooperate with one another as a team. Taichi was reckless and put on a facade of competence after he nearly got his sister killed. His decisions have led to countless mistakes, and he didn't know what it truly meant to put his life on the line. This Taichi, however, is already competent, assertive but not reckless, and behaves as if he has already done this before. Yamato kept his distance from people due to the trauma from his parents divorcing; he never saw his kid brother in years. The first time they reunited was during a summer camp trip that went haywire and resulted in the two kids nearly dying countless times. Their leader was Taichi. Yamato was overprotective of his younger brother and constantly argued with Taichi over how he put Takeru in danger. Yamato was edgy because he didn't want to drop his guard down and get hurt, both physically or emotionally. This Yamato, if anything, is artificially edgy due to refusing to cooperate with Taichi despite their numbers; he only respected Koshiro for his intelligence and support ability. Koshiro in the original closed himself off from people because he found out he was adopted. He pursued knowledge at the cost of everything else, and nearly got his friends and partner killed for it. Koshiro grew to become more active by bestowing his knowledge for the greater good. This Koshiro is already at this stage, but without any of the struggles from the original.
WarGreymon is about as popular, maybe a bit less but MetalGarurumon is a distant third

This is your post.
Unlike the OP, I didn't like this episode very much. I don't mind the aesthetic changes or the decision to introduce the cast one at a time, but there're some weird decisions.
Why the fuck did they burn Omegamon in the second episode? Not to mention a nuclear missile threat. Now what do they have for the remaining 50? I don't foresee a big beetle trying to whack them being much of a threat by comparison.
And Yamato came across as a bit of a dickhead which is retarded, sure he clashed with Taichi a bit but he was a solid gold character and this made him seem petty.
>Both colon younger kids are heavily related to Angel (wings)
Is it the moment they change furry dragon to an Angel?
What if that big beetle impales Taichi and sends his guts spilling all over the rest of the group?

Episode 3 preview
Good, now drop the series for the rest of us.
I rewatched the original some months ago, and surprisingly in terms of characters, dialogue, and interactions, it still does hold up. Animation-wise, this reeboot/alternate retelling is definitely better. The poor animation, excessive use of stock footage, and some backgrounds were the weak points of the original series. But definitely not the characters nor their interactions.
Wargreymon is definitely a bit behind, but Metalgarurumon is the black sheep, no one cares about it. Hell, it even becomes fucking bipedal on all alternate forms or references.
Wargreymon also has a lot more forms/expies. The entire Greymon line is marketed to hell and back.
You're comparing the whole 54 episodes of the first series to 2 from this one.
Putting everything into the first few episodes and then gradually building things up from there is not a smart move. Yes, it may hook in an audience, but they need the same or greater escalation to keep them on. You can't go from nuclear devastation of Tokyo to something with less stakes, and expect to keep the audience.
So, digimon has their own boogeyman like gridman did?
I honestly still can't believe Omegamon being as popular as he is, considering he's not part of the main series. But Mewtwo and Broly are movie characters as well and they're the big money makers of their franchises, apparently I'm bad at guessing
Cutest.
Thisis the dbs but for digimon adventure.
Then Taichi will be in trouble. That's still a few dozen million less than a nuclear missile hitting Tokyo. And its not likely to happen with Omegamon there.
This nails it. Omegamon worked previously because Taichi and Yamato had to mature as people and respect their interpersonal conflict. I guess in the reboot anyone can just combine np
they will probably escalate with the demon lords, the olympos xii or x-antibody. There's not a lack of "oh shit" mons they can use on the series that would have the proper "omph" that the nostalgia audience needs.
probably not a good sign that they've already blown through the inevitable our war game movie rehash and OMEGAAAAAAA and they're only two episodes in. this franchise desperately needs to move on from adventure.
MetalGawho?
I like the zoom ins and outs. It's like it's shifting from dynamic intense action and a toy set.
The Gogeta of Digimon
>Koshiro in the original closed himself off from people because he found out he was adopted.
This was and always will be stupid
I find it highly unlikely they'll be able to form Omegamon whenever they want after these episodes.
now both kids will be mary sues?
the soundtrack does not fit at all
In the first two episodes of the past series, the kids were completely clueless of where they are, what they were doing, what Digimon were, how they got stronger/evolved, and what they were supposed to do. The mystery of them navigating through this strange world with unfamiliar rules and enemies at every corner served as their greatest obstacle. Even though we didn't know about these kids's backstories in the first 2 episodes, we had small hints of them through their interactions with the other characters and their behavior. Taichi was foolishly and halfheartedly leading the charge. Yamato kept his distance while making sure his brother is safe. Koshiro tried to be the group's intelligence but he was more perplexed and amazed at what he is experiencing more than getting back home. Where is that here? From these two episodes alone, it is simply kids and their Digimon stopping wild Digimon from destroying their world with digital devices.
"I don't remember agreeing on this"
Why? What the fuck does Agumon care about Tokyo? He's never even heard of it before today. Meanwhile in your example his best friend was about to get gored. If anything it'll be super easy.
I dunno I prefer smaller stakes that concern characters I care about
user is probably adopted, himself.
>Where is that here? From these two episodes alone, it is simply kids and their Digimon stopping wild Digimon from destroying their world with digital devices.
yes indeed, the plot is different
Except it's good so far
>this franchise desperately needs to move on from adventure.
We literally don't know what will happen in the next episodes. As others said, we may get X-evolutions, Royal Knights, Demon Lords, and more fusions. It's too early to tell.
it will feel cheap as fuck. It will be the elephant in the room. They should show this Omegamon as an "incomplete" version, or a weaker one that struggles with Algomon and its shit so we get a proper one later and people don't start asking why don't they fuse again and wreck the shit out of everybody.
This is going to be the "chosen children can't digivolve because of control spires" debacle all over again.
Actually this is a really good sign now we can move on to new shit
>Already at Omegamon
God, Blue and UI soon.
This is a nice challenge for them though. I'm eager to see what they do, they should have realized it themselves. With THESE first 3 episodes I guess an episode with Joe and Matt working at a digi restaurant with Digitamamon is out of the question. Perhaps a big Digimon attacking a city Evangel- I mean Tamera style and fighting the army would be nice.
But yeah can you make an entire Digimon series filled with big moments like that?
Man I really want the next episodes just to see what they do, this is crazy
You just made me realize how cynical I became because of Omegamon being fucking everywhere the last few years, but yeah.
Fusions are extremely cool, I'm remembering the hype of knowing the 2 Digimon protagonists fused together.
He was a young kid. He found out that the people he thought were his parents were not. His coping mechanism was to surround himself with his interests and passions, where he won't get emotionally hurt or betrayed. Koshiro always loved technology and computers; they weren't going to lie or deceive him. He was also a small child at the time and compartmentalized his trauma.
>He's never even heard of it before today.
>already knew Taichi and has shown no signs of confusion about there being a human world
I don't think so chief.
>2020 is fucking trash
Yeah, the only good thing this year is the Digimon reboot.
reboot
what did they mean by this
god i hate shida
though i'd rather him on some digimon reboot than ruin any more one piece scenes
This guy slaps your gf's ass
What do?
>. Where is that here?
It will be a new series with a new story. It's not a remake. It likely will not attempt at all to be Adventure again, rather have its own plot, setting, and storytelling. From here on, nobody knows what will happen.
Just see this as a new Digimon entry that for some reason happens to have the old, original cast. But it's a new entry. I rather have this than a lame remake like RE3, or Nomura fooling persons into thinking that they are playing a remake.
I honestly expected a new - Imperfect Omegamon- variant with just Greymon and Garurumon fusing. It'd be a new design, like an organic adult stage for Omegamon.
It would be as strong as a high perfect or low ultimate Digimon and barely fend off Ultimate Algomon
you just know
