Not a pothead, I just thought I might as well try watching madoka when I was taking the marijuana prescribed by my psychiatrist. I loved the movie the first time I watched it too of course, but while on the marijuana I felt like I had a deeper intuitive understanding of the relationships of the characters, especially in the second half of the film and the ending with homura and madoka talking had an amazing spatial depth to it that worked on many different layers at the same time which I didn't quite grasp the first time.

That's like saying the ending to the original is "bad" unless they continue the story. Both of them end with a half-measure to bring some form of peace, but Rebellion's ending is objectively happier than the first ending. Even if it's a lie, everyone besides Homura gets to live happy. And she wasn't happy being the only one who remembered Madoka in wraithworld either. It doesn't need a continuation. It is what it is.
