I genuinely think the series isn't playing to its strengths. I don't know if the writer or editor are to blame but Overlord is at its best when Ainz is trying to be diplomatic while spilling his spaghetti. Keeping his posse in check, to stop them from doing exactly what is happening in the volume.

The content of this volume was set up in volume 9 and I feel like the payoff is lame. I was really looking forward to Ainz meeting princess Renner and BTFO her mind with his Sausages. I think that would be a lot more exciting then introducing no bodies only to have them killed. I thought the lessons and mistakes learned from Volume 7 weren't going to be repeated.

Its the writer. The editor was good cause he had bunch of wn content to revise and edit together. Early volumes would be like the 4th or 5th draft. Now its like the 1st draft instead of having to story concept worked out its more just make it legible and sell it. Now hes got nothing to edit mayamura writes crap and theres only so much to work with.

Fund 4 more seasons of anime and maybe Maruyama will try harder! You might even get a 13 Heroes story!

Sharma has a team of 4 which are 2 F and 2 M we got Skarma and Priestess plus the rouge. Whose the fourth member? Might have to go back again and reread.

The ones who had appeared in front of Skama were her teammates. Her team, Four Armaments, had four members including herself. The ratio of men to women was equal. In addition to the warrior Skama, there were also a rogue, a priestess, and a magic caster of the school of evocation. Their team composition was fairly balanced.

It feels to me like Maruyama is too much of a brainlet to come up with interesting and complex strategical battles.
Most of the conflicts and battles we've seen, if not all, have been super brainlet mode, with the exception of Ainz cheesing the doppel pleiades in the HK arc with clock-and-vanish re-stealthing.

He can't do anything more complex because he limited the story and fights by having the series be about an OP organization.
This is why he's ending it and making a sequel.

How complex can fantasy medieval battles be? Its all Castle sieges most of the time.

Yeah but it's a high fantasy setting, you can use a lot of magical abilities to nullify the lack of technical sophistication by making that magic and fantasy stuff to sort of emulate it. Like a dragon flying overhead shooting down fireballs is basically the same thing is a fighter jet flying over and napalming everything.
