Bakugo has consistently been the most popular character by a factor of at least 2 for at least 5 years now.
If Hori knows what makes a good story (he doesn't - Bakugo becoming a well written character was a failed attempt to kill off the series) or wants to keep making money, then there is only one possible outcome. That is that cucku dies, passes on his quirk to bakugo, bakugo begrudgingly accepts because his back is against the wall, and then the story continues with cucku retaining 6/7 of the quirks and bakugo becoming the greatest hero and cursing cucku for looking down on him.
