Why is it that Touhou manga is full of good art but the plot always sucks ass?

Because ZUN is not a good writer. I'm not even memeing I love Touhou but every story he's written sucks when not in a game, in which they are composed of just short phrases and bantz, a bit of story progression, and a short ending.

That's because you were expecting some battle shounen arc instead of you know, what's basically a SoL work. If you want epic action, it's shit, but if you just want a chill fantasy SoL about cute girls solving random incidents, it's fine.

FS and WaHH are fun for mystery/lore/SoL, but if you want cute stuff you should read the fairies manga (there are a few)
SSiB is the first one, but it's pretty weak.
