I like glasses, he is a good character.

He ruined himself. He was on his way to Saitamahood but went from Fubuki's lackey to general lackey.

Going on a team mission is not being a general lackey.
It was a proper canonization and a showing of how far he's gotten since leaving.
Once he's better he'll get back to training.

He went as support. Saitama never did that while training.

He's not entirely useless, has a clear goal he's determined to reach, and doesn't overstay his welcome. He's the perfect side character.

I think a lot of people are drawn to him because he is an underdog anti-hero with some redeeming qualities so killing 100 people unprovoked might ruin that image even if they were all villains. Not that I think he is a good person anyways.
