I want them to interact with the cast, to have their existence acknowledged; as it is they felt so disconnected from the plot (save for the the flashback) especially in Ryuken's case.

I honestly think Kyoka Suigetsu is his bankai.

I don't have strong points to back it up. My main points are that in the flashback mini-arc, shinji was able to break through a weaker version of Aizen's illusions leading me to believe that was his shikai, a reiatsu invisibility cloak thats strong but can be seen through with proper skill/power. Once that wasn't getting the job done, he used the stronger Kyoka Suigetsu.

My other point of evidence is the name, its a two word name, usually reserved for Bankai but I know there are exceptions to shikais only having one word, sode no shirayuki being an obvious example.

Also, theres the obvious point that theres no room for hid ability to be stronger. How much stronger can a hypnosis ability be? Covers all senses, you can never break free from it after seeing it once. He even says he's approached the limits of power and seeks to go beyond that, and he's not the type to hold back.

People overhype the idea of ryuken and isshin being underutilized. Their whole character is about being out of the picture now. They had their heyday and now theyre quietly living out, effectively, a retirement from spirit affairs. Their purpose in the story is to be there for their kids in classic dad fashion, teaching them what they know, challenging their beliefs to help them mature, and showing off how well connected they are.

Having a filler fight just to have a lightshow is pointless. Showing Ryuuken interact with a Quincy group he has no direct relationship with, especially after renouncing the quincy way, is pointless. Isshin interacting with the soul society is largely pointless too. In an interview Kubo confirms Hitsugaya and Matsumoto recognized him (and the other way around) when they were sent as an advance force but chose not to acknowledge it because thats not his lifr anymore, it complicates things. Isshin isnt part of the gotei 13 anymore and so interacting with them really has no purpose.

Honestly the first half of this arc pretty much anal rapes anything thats out rn
