Is anyone else concerned how the figure market will be affected after the Chinese virus lockdown? People in every country are being told to stay home and not work, depleting their savings, maybe selling a few items to make up the difference. It's not necessarily starvation times...yet, but a lot of people are learning how to control their spending and make a frugal budget for themselves instead of buying a bunch of plastic toys that you can't eat or pay rent with.

That's going to slow down sales of pretty much EVERYTHING non-essential for the short term, if only because people will have less disposable income. In the long term, though, people could really become a lot more frugal about buying stuff like anime figures. Japanese companies love to sell their goods anyway, just at an extreme mark-up (look at Japanese Blu-ray prices for anime compared to American). Will prices skyrocket in the next year, or will a lot of figure companies just go out of business?

The thing is most of this will be as you mentioned, short term. They're predicting a decent bounceback in most of the developed economies, the quarter after the lockdown ceases.

If you're not going to display or use them then what was the point in buying them, these goods are always going to degrade over time but then you just get the next one.
