Evergarden was a true gem amongst the piles of vapid seasonal shit. A visual storytelling showcase of unparalleled elan. Try to appreciate art and finesse.
For episode 5 alone kyoani painstakingly designed and then animated over a dozen intricately detailed dresses just to illustrate princess Abelfreyja's lavish way of life. Violet Evergarden is not called the most impressive tv anime of all time for nothing you know.

Real answer is that the whole show is designed for women and that's why the MC's sexually unimpressive. Giving her a great body would intimidate the female target audience and make them jealous.
