Why did they have to kill the monsters in each episode? Why did they not simply refocus the show to center around the Monsters of the Day, who were always more charming and beautiful than the protagonists?

They didn't have to though. They should have let the monster of the day win one week and then made the rest of the show focus them. I think a show that focused on a new beautiful monster lady each week would be far more successful.
