The most iconic page in manga history
Nicholas Parker
Levi Ramirez
they're kinda making devilman poses so i guess?
Landon Jackson
Ryder Roberts
Here's another. Toriyama is a complete genius and probably the best shonen artist of his generation.
Robert Howard
i like db but cmon man
Dylan Gonzalez
Lincoln Green
Cooper Morgan
Heart
Jason Rodriguez
Peak Toriyama is still the best. The only man that in my opinion could match him back then would be Hara with HnK.
Liam Wright
>loops
dumb idiot
Aaron Bennett
yeah those are some good manga pages but most iconic?
think harder
Nicholas Taylor
Isaiah Sanchez
The gut punch against Piccolo is really iconic. The Vegeta punch was just an example of the genius of Toriyama, but if you want iconic panels, here's the perfect one.
Zachary Martin
Luis Ward
you're using iconic very selfishly
Josiah Ward
I’d say Goku defeating King Piccolo is the more iconic page.
Lucas Harris
Oh boy it's this thread again. No your retarded moeshit isn't iconic. So is Fire Punch, Chainsawman, SnK, and other flavor of the week manga.
Isaac Long
I don't think so. The gut punch of Goku is one of the best fight scenes in manga history. Everyone knows about it and is still referenced today.
Also a great choice.
Luke Peterson
Jason White
this is the exact time dragon ball went to shit
Leo Diaz
>you're soming closer
Easton Diaz
The chapter after manga page and this page were the only ones to bring down several websites, when they were released ...
Joshua Martinez
Isaiah Robinson
Adrian King
If we're being serious I doubt there's anything like this.
Lincoln Price
kill yourselves
James Moore
The first real answer in this thread
Jeremiah Wilson
Based Dragon Chad.
Jayden Powell
O MY FIRE PUNCH WITH BOTH PROPERTIES OF KINO AND BASED
Ryder Davis
shut up shonen shitters
Christian White
And after this there could be some debate about wich one is the second more iconic. More referenced, more known, more easily recognizable, etc.
Lucas Jenkins
Why did Odas art and paneling get so shit?
Brandon Jenkins
Also, the most iconic doujinshi page.
Adam Allen
Do covers count?
Logan Ward
Not even memeing but the Super Saiyan reveal page is hands down one of the most influential moments in all of manga.
Liam Martinez
Reminder that this board is the property of dragon ball CHADS
Brandon Ward
James Sanders
We all know that. We kneel, DBCHADS.
Nolan Jenkins
Are you implying this is iconic? If you posted an actual page from the Eclipse, maybe the one where Guts rips off his arm it might be considered iconic, but this one? Like 20 volumes after the fact? No fucking way. The Dragon Ball pages posted are MUCH more iconic than anything in Berserk, honestly. And that's coming from someone who bought all of the manga.
Jacob Ross
Not even the best page in dragon ball
Christopher Hernandez
More like when hero loses (clean)
Carson Martinez
God toriyamas art went so shit, he gives every line the same weight and everything looks so flat
Nicholas Sullivan
That's by far the most referenced and remembered today, good job.
Nicholas Collins
Can you elaborate more user ?
Brayden Williams
Levi Bell
>pein
Dios mio
Dylan Long
Samuel Fisher
Thomas Davis
I don't read manga at all outside of a few very rare times like a chapter of watamote or komi-san once every several months so I can't speak on any of these panels from the perspective of one who gets hyped reading it, but I have to be around the anime-manga culture constantly and hear people talk about it, so I'll comment from the perspective of a manga outsider.
These are iconic without a doubt, nothing really needs to be added here.
I think "genius" is a fair descriptor without it necessarily meaning "good", insofar that he did something either new or popular enough to change / influence most of those who came after him. Said influence is undeniable, and it's fair to attribute that to a sort of "genius".
Iconic is a stretch, but meme worthy sure.
Favorite part about that image is how he made super saiyans "blonde" (could have been white or any other color once you got out of black and white) because he didn't want to ink the hair anymore, which is coincidently one of the reasons he killed off raditz, being a pain to draw. rip raditz, had so much potential from a story telling perspective, which actually reinforces an earlier point I made, that of "genius" not meaning "good" per se. Toriyama was great at setting up a world and making characters, but not necessarily at telling a story. He killed off raditz, wanted to kill off vegeta and only kept him alive because he got popular quickly, made yamcha a joke, made humans irrelevant, etc.
I agree with you, but I think you're making too bold a claim with the reference. There's really only so many ways you can show a fight scene, and punches are a basic element of fighting. No doubt many mangas reference it but I don't think they're all done intentionally.
Absolutely great moment from a story telling perspective, and hugely important to the story, but it's not really iconic outside one piece.
Parker Edwards
HEY
~~Joe...~~
Asher Cooper
Raoh was so fucking based.
Joseph Cooper
nice
Brayden Jackson
David Parker
What about iconic shots?
Elijah Scott
iconic in that it's the shittiest scene in anime
Connor Hill
?
Michael Adams
This is a manga thread technically.
Nolan Carter
Technically it was a thread about the OP pic and nothing else, so we can do what we want
Jace Diaz
I feel like Toriyama being so good at conveying movement in his paneling is what caused the anime itself to be kinda shit. Most of the scenes are just 1:1 recreations
Easton Morris
Toei would be Toei no matter what
Caleb Taylor
Jose Rivera
Noah Wilson
Alexander Young
