This is exactly why Darkness is such a shit character. Exactly two books before this scene she's ecstatic about possibly getting penetrated by a skeletal dragon, and now she's crying because Kazuma is treating her exactly like how she said she'd like to be treated.

She was FINE, she was supposed to be a shitty character, she was supposed to be worst girl and a joke character.

But then come Vol 8 and well, look she's an actual character!

And then come Vol 12 and why?! She's not even a joke character anymore!

Now, it's became bitter, it's not even sweet. Dark can't even go back anymore she stopped being herself, and frankly she has a good reason for that, Kazuma's mc cock power converted the girl, and now she's hopeless in love with no way out and with no chances of having her feelings returned.
She became the underdog, and thus far she hasn't won even once.

But you know what's worse? How boring she made Megumin look.

Her exchanges with Kazuma are funnier, the sexual tension between them is WAY higher, even the drama between them is deeper, what the hell? Natsume seems to tell that it's KazumaxMegumim but he left the best bits to Darkness.

Contraction is what usually makes characters deep. She didn't needed any of that.

I mean, I'd buy what you are saying if Darkness didn't immediately go back to wanting to get tentacle raped, in the very same book even. As a character she just plain does not work unless you selectively ignore large parts of her that contradict whatever she's doing now, which is basically the same approach Natsume is taking.

My point is, volume 12 was a mistake, it's fine for her to be a lust test for Kazuma. But her feelings for Kazuma were made too big to ignore, now she can't get closure and suddenly Kazuma x Megumin doen't look "right". It was.
